The movie Rise of the Beasts, a surprisingly good installment in the series, is leaving Netflix next month.
Okay, so if you’re a Transformers fan like me, you need to know that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is leaving Netflix on February 25th! That doesn’t give us much time to re-watch it. It came out in 2023 and continues the story after Bumblebee (with Hailee Steinfeld!), and it’s based on the classic toys we all grew up with. Michael Bay was a producer, and I really liked Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback as Noah and Elene. Definitely squeezing in another viewing before it’s gone!
Released in 1994, Rise of the Beasts follows the story of a former military electronics specialist, Ramos, and an artifact researcher, Fishback, who team up to help the Autobots and Maximals safeguard a powerful object called the Transwarp Key from the evil Terrorcons. Although the movie aimed to recapture the exciting action and large-scale battles that had previously been successful, it unfortunately didn’t quite meet audience expectations.
While Bumblebee did well, Rise of the Beasts wasn’t as successful. With a budget of around $200 million, it earned less at the box office than any other Transformers movie. This is a significant difference compared to the huge successes of films like Age of Extinction and Dark of the Moon, which both made over $1.1 billion.
The movie Rise of the Beasts struggled because reviews were generally mixed. It currently has a 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and many critics found it less impressive than Bumblebee, calling it predictable and lacking in originality.
The latest Transformers movie has received a surprisingly positive reception. It’s currently ‘Verified Hot’ on Rotten Tomatoes, boasting a 91% approval rating based on over 5,000 reviews from viewers. According to audience feedback, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts offers a fresh take on the series while still delivering the exciting action fans expect.
Transformers is One of the Highest-Grossing Film Series of All Time
While Rise of the Beasts didn’t perform as well as some fans expected, it’s still a significant addition to the popular Transformers franchise. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Transformers has consistently been a financial success, becoming one of the highest-grossing movie series ever, earning over $5.29 billion worldwide.
Despite some weaknesses in Rise of the Beasts, the Transformers franchise is expected to continue successfully. Several sequels are currently being planned, and Josh Cooley, the director of the animated film Transformers One, has been confirmed to direct another installment. A release date for the next Transformers movie hasn’t been announced yet.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will leave Netflix on Feb. 25.
