The popular show will be back on CBS this fall. The network just announced the premiere dates for its three returning series.
The new season of NCIS starts on CBS Tuesday, October 6th at 8 PM. Right after, the first episode of NCIS: New York will air at 9 PM, and then season three of NCIS: Origins will be shown at 10 PM.
The NCISverse Has Been a Mainstay on CBS Since 2003
I’m a huge fan of the whole NCIS universe, and it’s so interesting to me that it actually started as a spin-off of JAG! Basically, both shows follow teams of special agents who investigate crimes involving the military. It’s cool to see how it all connects!
The show originally premiered on CBS in 2003. Mark Harmon starred as Leroy Jethro Gibbs for the first 18 seasons, playing the popular leader of the NCIS team stationed at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
Mark Harmon departed NCIS at the beginning of Season 19, and Gary Cole joined the cast as Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker to take his place. Despite leaving the main series, Harmon continues to be a significant part of the NCIS: Origins prequel, and will appear in its third season.
NCIS: Origins explores the beginning of Gibbs’ career as a new special agent. The show follows him as he joins the newly established NIS office at Camp Pendleton and works with a tough, unconventional team led by NCIS veteran Mike Franks. Austin Stowell plays the younger version of Gibbs, and Mark Harmon narrates the story.
LL Cool J’s Sam Hanna Returns to New York for New NCIS Show
NCIS is expanding with a new show set in New York. LL Cool J will be back as Sam Hanna, a former agent from the Los Angeles team, who returns to his roots in New York City to head up a new NCIS team.
Scott Caan will play Nick Schaeffer, the new, charmingly mischievous partner of the main character, Sam. Jennifer Beals, Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper, and Devin Druid are also part of the cast.
NCIS returns on CBS on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
