At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, showrunner Joe Port revealed they’re creating a Christmas special inspired by the movie Die Hard. The special will playfully address the ongoing debate about whether Die Hard is actually a Christmas movie, with the show’s ghosts weighing in. The plot will also involve characters from the past taking some ghosts hostage, and Jay [Utkarsh Ambudkar] will be the one to rescue them.
CBS has announced air dates for its upcoming specials and the rest of the sixth season. The Halloween special will air for an hour on Thursday, October 29th at 9 PM, and the Christmas special will air on Thursday, December 10th at 9 PM. The remaining episodes of season six will premiere in 2027.
