Now, Frank would never join them willingly, but the way The Hand manipulated him… it was brutal and genuinely heartbreaking to witness. They didn’t just attack him physically; they went after everything he is, and the results were devastating.
The Hand manipulated Frank by bringing his wife, Maria, back to life. However, she was held captive within their compound, effectively anchoring Frank to them and their conflict. Knowing Frank would never abandon Maria, and that she would die if she tried to escape, The Hand used her as leverage. They also dangled the promise of resurrecting their children, further binding Frank to their cause. This desperate situation transformed Frank, making him far more ruthless and dangerous than he’d ever been.
As a huge fan, I’m hearing the new Punisher series will likely pit him against another New York crime family, but honestly, that feels a little… predictable. What I really want to see is a storyline that brings Frank Castle and The Hand together. It would be a fascinating way to explore a different side of Frank, and it opens the door for Daredevil to potentially show up, which would be amazing! They haven’t always been linked in the comics, but that recent Spider-Man storyline, Brand New Day, feels like it’s laying the groundwork for something like that, and I’m hoping they go for it.
