KPop Demon Hunters Scores Another Historic Record For Netflix Going Into Awards Season Run

The animated movie KPop Demon Hunters has broken another record as award season kicks off. This fantasy musical, about the girl group Huntr/x battling the boy band Saja Boys (who happen to be demons!), is now Netflix’s most-watched movie ever, racking up over 325 million views in its first 91 days.

The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack has been incredibly successful, breaking several records. The lead single, “Golden,” made history as the first song by a KPop girl group – whether real or from the movie – to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The soundtrack also achieved another first: having four songs – Huntr/x’s “Golden” and “How It’s Done,” along with Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” and “Your Idol” – in the Top 10 at the same time.

As a huge movie fan, I was thrilled to see all the recognition for the film! The nominations for the 2026 Grammys are out, and it’s just adding to the incredible success the movie is already having. I was especially excited to see that “Golden” received four nominations: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Remixed Recording, Best Song Written For Visual Media, and even Song of the Year! It’s really a fantastic track and deserves all the accolades.

The song from KPop Demon Hunters is up for an award, going up against hit songs by well-known artists like Lady Gaga (“Abracadabra”), Sabrina Carpenter (“Manchild”), Rosé and Bruno Mars (“APT.”), Kendrick Lamar and SZA (“luther”), and Billie Eilish (“WILDFLOWER”).

The song is a strong contender for the Best Original Song Oscar and has made history by earning the most Grammy nominations ever for a KPop girl group. This is the first time any KPop girl group has been nominated for a Grammy award.

Before 2025, BTS was the first and only K-Pop group to ever be nominated for a Grammy Award. They received five nominations between 2021 and 2023.

This year, the global group Katseye, known for its KPop influences, received two award nominations: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Gabriela,” and Best New Artist. Despite discussions about whether they truly fit the KPop genre, Huntr/x continues to lead with twice as many nominations.

Plus, KPop Demon Hunters received a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, bringing its total number of nominations to five.

This Grammy win could be the first of many awards for Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters during the 2025-2026 awards season. While the movie still needs to overcome several hurdles to be considered for Oscars like Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature, this early success suggests it’s gaining positive momentum.
