Amy Pascal, a producer on the Spider-Man films, wants to include Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Hardy previously starred as Venom in three separate movies.
Could Tom Hardy’s Venom Join the MCU?
Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, was more cautious when asked by Happy Sad Confused host Josh Horowitz about the possibility of bringing Tom Hardy’s Venom into the same universe as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Unlike Amy Pascal, who said it “would be great,” Feige simply offered, “Always have hope.”
Currently, there aren’t any confirmed plans to include Tom Hardy’s Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, with the Multiverse Saga wrapping up next year with Avengers: Secret Wars, the chance for that to happen might be slipping away.
Tom Hardy portrayed both Eddie Brock and Venom in three movies from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe: Venom (2018), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), and Venom: The Last Dance (2024). He also briefly appeared, without credit, after the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
While the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) hasn’t been a huge hit with Marvel fans, many people actually enjoy the Venom movies the most. However, Kevin Feige probably wants to develop his own version of Venom, rather than continue the existing films which don’t connect to Spider-Man. It seems Amy Pascal is much more interested in a crossover between the two universes than Feige is.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, known for Final Destination: Bloodlines, will direct and produce the new film. Pascal, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Hardy are all producing. It’s currently unknown whether Hardy will also provide a voice for the movie, or if he’s solely a producer. Casting announcements are still to come.

Despite recent challenges, Marvel Studios and Sony’s Spider-Man films are still doing well. The newest installment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, currently has a positive score based on 178 reviews. This sequel reimagines Spider-Man’s story, starting four years after the events of No Way Home where Doctor Strange erased everyone’s memory of Peter Parker.
The story of Spider-Man: Brand New Day begins with Peter Parker starting fresh. He’s dedicated to fighting crime as Spider-Man, but no one remembers who he is. As his friends build new lives, Peter struggles with changes he feels powerless to stop.
This change could be the key to saving the city and everyone Peter cares about from a dangerous new enemy – one so powerful, they’re practically invisible. While the world has moved on and forgotten Peter Parker, he hasn’t forgotten about them.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters this Friday, July 31.
