Keanu Reeves in Zootopia 3? Sequel Director Reveals His Wish

While Disney hasn’t confirmed a third Zootopia movie, Jared Bush, who co-directed the second film, has said he’d love to have a major Hollywood star in it. This comes after Zootopia 2 earned over $1 billion worldwide, making it even more successful than the original.

Jared Bush wants to cast Keanu Reeves in Zootopia 3

Jared Bush, a director on Zootopia 2, recently thanked fans on X (formerly Twitter) for seeing the movie in theaters. When a fan asked him who he’d cast in a potential Zootopia 3, Bush jokingly suggested Keanu Reeves. He explained his son is a big fan and has been asking him to get Reeves to play a character called ‘The Baba Llama’ – a llama assassin – which Bush thinks would be a perfect cameo.

As of right now, Disney hasn’t officially said whether Keanu Reeves is working on anything related to Zootopia.

The original Zootopia film, directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore and written by Bush and Phil Johnston, came out in 2016 and was a huge success, earning over a billion dollars worldwide. It still boasts a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 298 reviews. Bush also wrote and co-directed the sequel, Zootopia 2, with Howard, which premiered in November 2025 and has already proven to be even more popular than the first film.

Zootopia 2’s voice actors feature Ginnifer Goodwin returning as Judy Hopps, alongside Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde. Ke Huy Quan joins the cast as Gary De’Snake, with Fortune Feimster voicing Nibbles Maplestick. Andy Samberg plays Pawbert Lynxley, and David Strathairn is Milton Lynxley. Shakira reprises her role as Gazelle, Idris Elba returns as Chief Bogo, Danny Trejo voices Jesús, and Nate Torrence is back as Benjamin Clawhauser.
