Aaron Pierre, who will first appear as John Stewart in the upcoming Lanterns series from DC Studios, may be joined by other Justice League members in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow. While not a direct continuation of the Superman film planned for 2025, Gunn has stated that Man of Tomorrow will build upon the story established in DC Universe’s first movie. The film will pit Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) against Brainiac (Lars Eidinger), and will also include appearances by other heroes from the DC Universe.
In early March 2026, it was revealed that Aaron Pierre is joining the cast of Man of Tomorrow. He will play John Stewart, a Green Lantern in training, and will appear alongside Kyle Chandler, who plays Hal Jordan, in the upcoming Lanterns series. Adding John Stewart to Man of Tomorrow may hint at the development of the DC Universe’s official Justice League team, as both Green Lantern and Superman have frequently been key members. This suggests we might see even more Justice League heroes in Man of Tomorrow.
Wonder Woman Has Been Confirmed to Be Coming to the DCU
DC Studios is currently working on a new Wonder Woman project and also developing a series called Paradise Lost which will delve deeper into the world of Themyscira. Gal Gadot won’t be reprising her role as Wonder Woman, meaning the character will be recast. The new Wonder Woman could be introduced in Man of Tomorrow, and actresses like Adria Arjona, Melissa Barrera, and Alexandra Daddario are potential candidates. An announcement is expected around 2027.
Wonder Woman first appeared as a key member of the Justice League in a 1960 DC comic book. As DC reboots its universe, it would be fantastic to see her play a similarly important role. While introducing her in the upcoming “Man of Tomorrow” could echo some of the issues with Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman,” a brief appearance by the Amazonian princess would be a great way to build excitement for her own future film and expand the DC Universe.
DC Studios Could Introduce Hawkgirl’s Other Half in Man of Tomorrow
Shayera Holtz, known as Hawkgirl, is connected to Maxwell Lord’s group, but her partner, Hawkman, might show up in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow to hint at a larger superhero team. Merced plays Kendra Saunders, a version of Hawkgirl who is reborn repeatedly, remembering all her previous lives as a warrior from the planet Thanagar. This cycle of rebirth is deeply connected to her destined love, Hawkman, who first became a member of the Justice League in 1964.
Hawkman has been portrayed by several actors in the past. While it’s not confirmed if the role will be recast for the new DC Universe, many believe he’d be a valuable member of the new Justice League. Though Hawkgirl hasn’t been featured much, bringing Hawkman into the story could create opportunities to develop their complex history. Hawkgirl’s relationship with John Stewart in previous animated series makes her appearance in Man of Tomorrow seem probable, but some fans are hoping to see her paired with Hawkman instead.
Green Arrow Could Finally Get His Feature Film Debut As a Member of the Justice League
A brief scene in Peacemaker seemingly confirmed Green Arrow existed within the previous DC Universe, even though he never appeared on screen. However, that scene hasn’t been shown again in Season 2, leaving his status in the newly rebooted DC franchise uncertain. After a long run on The CW’s Arrowverse, it’s time to see Oliver Queen’s Green Arrow on the big screen, and Man of Tomorrow would be an ideal place to introduce him.
In 1961’s Justice League of America #4, Green Arrow was the first hero to join the Justice League after its initial creation. However, he’s often been left out of the team’s movies and TV shows, something the new DC Universe could fix. This is similar to Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), who has consistently been a valuable member of the Avengers since 2012.
Black Canary Deserves More Focus in the DCU Than She Has Previously Had
Dinah Lance’s Black Canary first appeared in a film as part of a team, but she deserves a more prominent role in movies. The Black Canary characters in the Arrowverse TV series were quite popular, so it’s time for a great Black Canary movie. A good way to start would be to hint at her joining the Justice League, like they did in Man of Tomorrow.
Black Canary officially joined the Justice League in 1969 with issue #74 of Justice League of America. However, a later storyline called Crisis on Infinite Earths revealed that in an alternate timeline, she was actually one of the team’s original founders. Black Canary deserves more recognition in the DC Universe; she’s a fantastic hero who embodies the classic Film Noir heroine. Adding her to a live-action Justice League team would offer audiences something fresh and help the DCU stand out.
The DCU Needs to Commit to a True Martian Manhunter
Fans had hoped the DC Extended Universe would finally deliver a great Martian Manhunter, especially after the idea first emerged as a popular fan theory following the 2013 film Man of Steel. Unfortunately, his official debut didn’t quite live up to expectations. The upcoming Man of Tomorrow project has the potential to change that by introducing a truly compelling version of J’onn J’onzz, a key founding member of the Justice League in the DC Comics universe.
Although Martian Manhunter only appeared in the extended cut Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film has the potential to showcase him much more effectively. Martian Manhunter possesses incredible powers that would be a valuable addition to the DC Universe, particularly given the need for powerful heroes. Fans are hoping for at least a hint of his presence in Man of Tomorrow, with hopes he’ll become a significant character in the DCU going forward.
Fans Have Never Seen a Live-Action Vixen on the Big Screen
Though Vixen, portrayed by both Megalyn Echikunwoke and Maisie Richardson-Sellers, hasn’t yet appeared in a major movie, the upcoming film Man of Tomorrow could introduce her as part of the DC Universe’s Justice League. In the DC Comics, Vixen, a hero who can imitate the abilities of different animals, first joined a version of the Justice League in Justice League of America Annual #2 back in 1984.
Vixen has worked with several versions of the Justice League, including Justice League Detroit, Justice League International, and the main Justice League of America team. Her background is unique – she’s been both a superhero and a model – and she could bring a stylish and glamorous energy to the DC Universe, offering a fresh, sophisticated hero. Vixen would be a dynamic and engaging addition to the Justice League, and fans would be thrilled to see her introduced in Man of Tomorrow.
Aquaman Needs to Be Recast in the DCU After Jason Momoa’s Supergirl Debut
I was surprised to learn Jason Momoa won’t be continuing as Aquaman in the new DC Universe! It seems he’s moving on to play a bounty hunter instead. While I enjoyed his take on the character, especially as the King of Atlantis and a member of the Justice League, it sounds like a fresh start with a new actor is exactly what Aquaman needs. They haven’t announced who will take over yet, or what future plans there are for the hero, but honestly, a recast feels crucial to revitalize the character.
Aquaman is a legendary hero from DC Comics and was one of the original members of the Justice League, first appearing in 1960. Fans have suggested actors like Alexander Ludwig, Charlie Hunnam, and Garrett Hedlund to play him, but DC Studios hasn’t announced anyone yet. While it might be unexpected, seeing Aquaman debut in Man of Tomorrow could be exciting, especially with hints that the Justice League might be forming soon.
Zatanna Could Bring Something New to the DCU’s Justice League
As a huge DC fan, I’m really excited about the possibility of Zatanna finally showing up in the new DCU, maybe even in Man of Tomorrow! She’s consistently ranked as one of DC’s most powerful magical heroes, and I think introducing her could unlock some truly unique and bizarre stories for the universe. Plus, she’s not just a superhero – she’s a world-famous stage magician, which would bring a fantastic level of glamour and recognition to the Justice League. It’s a shame that planned movie for her never got off the ground, but hopefully, this is a fresh start!
Zatanna became an official member of the Justice League in the DC comic Justice League of America #161 back in 1978, after assisting the team in defeating the Warlock of Ys. With magic now playing a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be fantastic to see DC Studios explore similar territory, and Zatanna would be the perfect character to introduce to do so. The upcoming Man of Tomorrow project could subtly hint at Zatanna’s existence, potentially opening the door for more magic-focused stories within the DC Universe.
Wally West’s Flash Might Be Just What Viewers Need After DCEU Disappointments
Following issues and fan disappointment with Ezra Miller’s portrayal of the Flash, DC Studios might introduce Wally West as the new Flash. This would help avoid past problems and distance the franchise from its previous, less successful version. Wally West began as Kid Flash in DC Comics and later became the Flash in 1986, eventually joining Justice League International in 1989.
Casting Wally West as the Flash instead of Barry Allen could inject a fresh, energetic vibe into the role. While West is known as a key member of the Teen Titans in the comics, it would be exciting to see him join the Justice League in the new DC Universe. Introducing him, possibly as the Flash of Central City in a story like Man of Tomorrow, would be a fantastic way to establish him as the main speedster for the franchise.
Man of Tomorrow Would Be Perfect to Bring Batman Back to the DCU
Fans got a sneak peek at one of the original Justice League members in the DCU’s first project. We saw Batman briefly, already active and taking down villains like Doctor Phosphorus, establishing he’s been around for a while. However, we haven’t seen him in live-action yet, and the actor cast to play him remains a mystery. While fans have suggested actors like Alan Ritchson, Jensen Ackles, and Glen Powell for the role of Bruce Wayne, an official announcement is still forthcoming.
Following the planned releases of Supergirl and Clayface, Man of Tomorrow would be an ideal film to introduce Batman within the new DC Universe. While it might not happen there, with The Brave and the Bold—a film featuring Batman—already in development for 2027, the time to introduce the character is approaching. It would be great to see Batman join forces with Superman, Lex Luthor, Green Lantern (John Stewart), and other heroes in Man of Tomorrow.
