Johnny Knoxville-Hosted ‘Fear Factor’ Reboot to Premiere Jan. 11

The popular show Fear Factor, known for its daring challenges, is back! This latest version, called Fear Factor: House of Fear, will debut on Fox on January 11th, following an NFL playoff game. Although the football game begins at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Fear Factor will start at 8 p.m. ET. This premiere is a one-time event; the show will then move to its regular Wednesday night timeslot beginning January 21st.

House of Fear is a revamped version of the well-known and often debated daredevil game show, now led by Johnny Knoxville of Jackass. By airing it immediately after an NFL game, Fox is clearly hoping for a big audience and is investing heavily in the show’s comeback with a new host. This is a common tactic for the network to launch new programs; last year, Rob Lowe’s competition, The Floor, was given the same prime post-NFL slot.

When Knoxville was announced as the host, a Fox executive explained that his adventurous spirit, willingness to go to extremes, and boundary-pushing humor made him ideal for this updated version of Fear Factor. The head of Endemol Shine North America also commented:

As a huge fan, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Johnny Knoxville is hosting the new Fear Factor! When you’re bringing back a show this iconic, you need someone who is daring and exciting, and Johnny is that person. They’re really going to push the limits of what fear and strategy mean in a competition, and honestly, he’s the perfect guy to lead the charge. Get ready for a completely wild and unforgettable season – it’s going to be amazing to watch him put our contestants (and us viewers!) through the wringer – in the best way possible, of course!

‘Fear Factor’ Returns in 2026 as ‘Fear Factor: House of Fear’

Known for his role in Jackass, the comedian has been named the new host of the Fear Factor reboot. This updated version, called Fear Factor: House of Fear, adds a twist: contestants will all live together in one house while facing the famously disgusting challenges that made the original show so popular. Expect things to get messy again! Here’s a brief description of the new series:

Get ready for a brand new Fear Factor! This time, it’s called Fear Factor: House of Fear, and it’s even more intense. A group of strangers will be stranded together in a remote location and forced to face terrifying stunts and challenges. They’ll also have to navigate a complex social game where trust is hard to find and fear can be used against them. In the end, only one person will overcome their fears and win a huge cash prize!

Fear Factor first aired from 2001 to 2006 with Joe Rogan as its host. The show returned in 2011 for one more season on NBC, also hosted by Rogan, but was then cancelled. It was brought back again in 2017 for two seasons on MTV, this time with Ludacris as the host. The latest version of Fear Factor, premiering in 2026, will be entirely produced and shown on Fox.
