As a huge film fan, I’m getting really excited because Supergirl is hitting theaters in just a couple of months! It feels like the marketing is finally kicking into high gear – soon we’ll be seeing interviews everywhere and, of course, all the merchandise. But Warner Bros. gave us a little sneak peek at CinemaCon – they showed off the first extended clip from the movie, and it looks fantastic! I can’t wait to see more.
At a recent presentation, DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran was joined by the stars of Supergirl, Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa, and director Craig Gillespie. Together, they showed a clip that The Hollywood Reporter says features Supergirl on a dangerous journey. This trip is suddenly threatened when a new group of villains tries to steal the ship’s cargo and anything else they can find.
I was really hooked by this line from Alcock’s Supergirl – Kara Zor-El – in the trailer. She says, “They want the bus. They want the fuel. They want the engine,” and then, with this great cynical edge, adds, “My guess is they want to rob us all blind first.” It just perfectly sets up what feels like a really thrilling, high-stakes story.
The action builds to several exciting fight scenes, ending with Kara failing to get into a spacesuit and being ejected into space. Things look dire for a moment, but then her Kryptonian abilities activate – seemingly because, as another character points out, she’s heading straight for the sun.
Following the screening of a clip – which, as is common with CinemaCon premieres, wasn’t released online right away – the stars and producer expressed their excitement about the film. Alcock described the experience as deeply impactful for her, both personally and in her career. Momoa, meanwhile, said playing the character Lobo felt like a dream come true for him as a longtime comic book fan.
“This is a dream come true,” Momoa told the crowd. “This is the comic I collected.”

As many DC fans know, Jason Momoa has played characters from the DC universe before. He was Aquaman in several movies when Zack Snyder was in charge of the DC film franchise, and even played Lobo in Supergirl. This led to fun speculation about a future team-up, with Momoa jokingly suggesting that Lobo and Aquaman would instantly bond over beer, saying they’d look at each other and think, ‘I like this guy.’
Viewers will finally be able to form their own opinions about Jason Momoa as Lobo when Supergirl premieres on June 26, 2026. Warner Bros. is already planning the next chapter in the DC Universe, with filming for Man of Tomorrow starting next week, as announced by Safran at CinemaCon.
