A new James Bond casting update suggests that nearly all the past 007 casting rumors are not true.
After completing work on Dune: Part Three for Warner Bros., director Denis Villeneuve will be taking on the next James Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios. Details about when the movie will be released, or who will star as James Bond, haven’t been revealed yet.
What is the latest James Bond casting update?
As a huge cinema fan, I’ve been following all the buzz about who might land this role, and honestly, the names being thrown around are incredible! I’ve seen rumors about Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, Austin Butler, Glen Powell, and a bunch of other talented actors potentially being considered. It’s exciting to think about who they might choose!
Director Denis Villeneuve is searching for a new, relatively unknown actor to take on the role of James Bond, and he specifically wants someone from the British Isles, according to Deadline.
The article states that actors like Timothée Chalamet, Glen Powell, Austin Butler, and Jacob Elordi, who aren’t British, are unlikely to be considered for the role. In fact, most of the actors people are suggesting online probably won’t be chosen. Sources say the filmmakers are looking for a relatively unknown actor, likely between 28 and 33 years old, to portray James Bond as Ian Fleming originally envisioned: a stoic, unremarkable man who is a tool for action. Given this, established stars like Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, and Henry Cavill, who are older and more well-known, probably don’t fit the direction director Denis Villeneuve, producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal, and Amazon MGM Studios are taking.
Last month, reports surfaced that actor Scott Rose-Marsh, age 37 and known for his red hair, may have auditioned for the role, leaving his potential involvement uncertain. Rose-Marsh is a British actor who hasn’t had many major roles so far in his career.
