Hallmark has recently released several new movies, and Erin Krakow, known for her role in When Calls the Heart, let me know that her husband, Ben Rosenbaum (who she’s expecting a baby with), had a Christmas movie in the works. That movie, The Christmas Cup, recently aired, and I was happy to see some familiar faces from When Calls the Heart make appearances – though not the one I was anticipating.
The Christmas Cup centers around a decades-long reindeer games rivalry between two towns. This year, Kelly Brandt (Rhiannon Fish) is determined to win and teams up with firefighter Quinn (Rosenbaum) to boost her team’s chances. Beyond Rosenbaum’s appearance, the movie includes a delightful cameo that Hallmark fans will especially enjoy.
Near the end of the movie, while firemen were spreading holiday cheer at a town event, Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith unexpectedly appeared. The two actors shared a sweet scene with the main couple, which delighted fans of the show.
Pascale and Kavan have been playing a married couple on When Calls the Heart for several seasons. They’re a beloved on-screen couple with fantastic chemistry, which makes sense considering they’ve worked together on numerous projects outside of the show. In addition to their long run on WCTH, they’ve also starred together in The Perfect Bride (and its sequel), You Had Me At Aloha, and the mystery film Nelly Knows Mysteries.
Hutton posted behind-the-scenes photos from filming The Christmas Cup. She playfully hinted at her long history working with Kavan, asking her followers to guess how many projects they’ve done together. Check them out!

I really enjoy when characters from one Hallmark series make surprise appearances in another, and it’s exciting to see this happening more often! It’s similar to the interconnectedness of Marvel movies, but in a lighter, more romantic way. With new previews for Season 13 of When Calls the Heart coming soon, these cameos are perfectly timed.
