Henry Cavill’s New Thriller In The Grey Earns His Worst Box Office Debut In 14 Years

In the Grey might not end up in the black.

Henry Cavill, known for his role in Man of Steel, teams up again with director Guy Ritchie in their new thriller, In the Grey, which premiered on May 15th. This marks their third collaboration, following 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and 2024’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The film centers on Sid (Cavill) and Bronco (Jake Gyllenhaal), two experts tasked with a high-stakes mission: recovering $1 billion from a powerful and dangerous leader. The cast also features Eiza González, Fisher Stevens, and Rosamund Pike.

According to Variety, Henry Cavill’s new thriller, In the Grey, is expected to bring in around $3 million domestically over its first weekend. This is Cavill’s weakest opening weekend for a wide release in 14 years, since his 2012 film The Cold Light of Day earned just $1.8 million. It’s also the second-lowest opening weekend of his career for a movie released widely in theaters.
