Heated Rivalry Star Robbie G.K. Opens Up About Scott and Kip’s Future in Season 2

Be warned – the following contains spoilers for season 1 of Heated Rivalry! One of the most popular couples from the show might be getting more attention in the future.

Originally airing on Canada’s Crave, the hockey drama based on Rachel Reid’s novel has become a hit worldwide thanks to a deal with HBO, which brought it to a much larger audience. The show, Heated Rivalry, quickly gained a dedicated fanbase, averaging 10.6 million viewers per episode in the U.S. Critics have also praised it, giving it a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Robbie G.K., the actor who plays Kip Grady on the popular show Heated Rivalry, recently told People magazine what he’s hoping for in the upcoming second season. His character, Kip, secretly dated hockey player Scott Hunter (played by François Arnaud), and their relationship was publicly revealed when they confessed their feelings on live television in front of a large audience.

We find Scott and Kip at the most exciting point of the story, and there’s a lot more to discover about what happens next. I’m hoping we can delve into that further.

Season 2 will draw from Jennifer Reid’s novel, The Long Game. According to creator Jacob Tierney, the novel contains so much content that it might not all be adapted within the season. The storyline will primarily follow Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) as their relationship evolves. For context, Season 1’s episode 3 focused on Scott and Kip’s story, which was inspired by Reid’s novel, Game Changer.

It’s still unknown how the second book will be adapted, but it offers a chance to delve deeper into the relationship between Scott and Kip. They were openly a couple, which was significant given the stigma surrounding same-sex relationships in hockey. Season one didn’t fully explore their story – details from the book they appeared in could be expanded upon in season two, showing more of their romance.

While there’s no confirmed release date yet, the second season of Heated Rivalry is currently planned for spring 2027. You can watch the first season now on HBO Max.
