Ginnifer Goodwin Says Nick & Judy Aren’t on the Same “Page” in ‘Zootopia 2’

In Disney’s Zootopia, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde went from unlikely partners to a dynamic duo, successfully stopping Mayor Bellwether’s plan to disrupt the fragile peace between predators and prey. They both achieved their goals – Judy regained her position as a police officer, and Nick finally graduated and became her official partner. However, even with this happy ending, their adventures in Zootopia 2 won’t be without new challenges.

Ginnifer Goodwin recently told MovieWeb that her character, Judy, and Jason Bateman’s character, Nick, will start the new season with some disagreements. Judy is dealing with self-doubt and a strong desire to be in charge, which will cause friction between the two.

She’s simply visiting their social media profiles,” the 47-year-old Once Upon a Time actress explains. “She isn’t always a great listener, even with those distinctive ears. And I don’t blame her for the struggles she’s facing at the beginning of the movie.”

Goodwin says the new movie picks up just a week after Judy and Nick rescue the city from Mayor Bellwether (Jenny Slate). However, instead of feeling good about their success, Judy is actually struggling with her self-confidence.

Receiving public praise has made her feel pressured to demonstrate that she and her team were worthy of saving the city and deserving of this new partnership – that their success is based on skill, not luck. This has led her to become overly controlling, closely monitoring everything and not listening to others, which is damaging their ability to work together effectively.

‘Loki’ Star Snags Key Role in ‘Zootopia 2’

Get ready for a new character in Zootopia 2 that Marvel fans will recognize! Ke Huy Quan, known for playing Ouroboros in the Disney+ series Loki, will voice Gary De’Snake, a mysterious reptile who’s causing trouble in the animal city of Zootopia.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ke Huy Quan, 54, explained that the new adventure for Judy and Nick begins when they find a shed snakeskin. This discovery leads them on a quest to understand why reptiles haven’t been seen in Zootopia for a century.

A puzzling situation arises, and that’s when Gary appears. He immediately causes panic because he’s actually a poisonous snake, and everyone is terrified of him.

Though people might expect something different, the actor from Everything Everywhere All at Once shared that Gary is actually a very friendly, slightly silly, and genuinely kind person.

He’s a naturally hopeful person,” he explained. “He keeps working because he wants to bring his family back to Zootopia by solving cases and sharing his optimism with everyone.

Zootopia 2 hits theaters on Nov. 26.
