Streaming services are successfully reviving interest in older TV shows, and sometimes even bringing back shows that were canceled too soon, even if new episodes aren’t made. A great example is the NBC drama about missing persons, which originally ended after only two seasons despite a dedicated fanbase. Now, it’s become incredibly popular after being added to Netflix.
I’m really excited about Found, a new show that started in 2023! It stars Shanola Hampton as Gabi Mosely, and she leads a team that finds missing people when everyone else has given up – cases the police, news, and public have forgotten. What’s so compelling is that everyone on her team has been touched by a disappearance – they’ve either been missing themselves or lost someone they loved. But here’s the really gripping part: Gabi actually asks the man who kidnapped her when she was a child to help with her cases. It’s a bold move, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out!
The show Found received positive reviews and grew in popularity during its first two seasons. However, NBC canceled it after Season 2, seemingly before giving it a real chance. Critics praised the show as highly addictive and highlighted a standout performance from its lead actor. Now, Found is gaining a new audience on Netflix and is perfect for a weekend binge-watch.
‘Found’ was Unjustly Canceled by NBC

NBC
It’s usually difficult to know why a TV show gets canceled – is it because it’s too expensive, not enough people are watching, or something else entirely outside of the show’s control? In the case of Found, the cancellation might have been due to factors beyond the show’s quality or performance.
Despite positive reviews for its second season, the show Found was cancelled when NBC needed to make room for NBA games. The network was trying to fit a lot of sports programming – nearly 200 hours – into its schedule, forcing them to cut several shows. Found, along with Suits L.A., Night Court, Lopez vs. Lopez, and The Irrational, were all cancelled because they weren’t performing well with key audiences.

Like other shows that were canceled prematurely, Netflix is demonstrating that ending Found after just one season might have been a mistake, particularly because the first season ended with a major cliffhanger. While viewers now know the story won’t be fully concluded, that hasn’t stopped millions from discovering—or rediscovering—the series, especially those who missed it originally.
