Okay, so there’s been some buzz about a new Miss Piggy movie, and I was totally confused about Emma Stone’s role! Apparently, Jennifer Lawrence let slip back in November 2025 that she and Emma are producing it, and while they’re both likely to be in the movie, it wasn’t clear what parts they’d play. Emma recently clarified things, so we’ll see what happens!
In a recent interview with W Magazine, Emma Stone responded to a question about potentially playing Miss Piggy. She jokingly called the idea the “biggest insult” to the character she’d ever heard, playfully asking, “Are you crazy?”
Emma Stone has made it clear she won’t be playing Miss Piggy, and she joked that Jennifer Lawrence wouldn’t be a good fit either, saying she doesn’t measure up. You can read Stone’s complete answer or watch the relevant part of the interview starting at 5:58.
That comment about Miss Piggy is completely unacceptable, and I won’t stand for it. The idea of anyone else playing her is ridiculous – she’s iconic! Neither I nor Jen could ever do her justice. Honestly, Miss Piggy is Miss Piggy, and she’d be furious if anyone even suggested replacing her.
During a November 2025 appearance on the podcast Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, Jennifer Lawrence announced that she and Emma Stone are producing a new movie about Miss Piggy. When asked if they’d also be acting in it, Lawrence hinted that they would, saying, “I think so… We have to.” While they won’t be playing Miss Piggy herself, it’s currently unknown what roles Stone and Lawrence will have in the film, though Muppets movies typically include multiple human characters and guest appearances by celebrities.
The upcoming Miss Piggy movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone will be written by Cole Escola. Escola is a Tony Award winner known for the Broadway show Oh, Mary! and has also contributed to TV comedies like The Other Two, At Home with Amy Sedaris, and Ziwe.
Miss Piggy is famous for being a glamorous, demanding diva and for her complicated romance with Kermit the Frog. She made her debut in a 1974 TV special featuring Herb Alpert and his band, but really became popular on The Muppet Show. Since then, she’s been in many Muppet movies and series, solidifying her place as one of the most beloved and well-known characters in the franchise.
Given the history of this film series, it’s likely both Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence will appear in the upcoming Miss Piggy movie. Even if they only have brief cameos due to busy schedules, that would be similar to how celebrities have appeared in past Muppet films and would be the first time they’ve shared the screen in a movie together.
