Hulu’s popular thriller series is bringing on some well-known actors for its third season. Creator Dan Fogelman announced the new cast members on Instagram with a photo of Elijah Wood, known for The Lord of the Rings, and Melissa Benoist, from Supergirl, filming on location.
Wood and Benoist are dressed as astronauts, seemingly on the set of a spaceship. Fogelman shared the photo with a playful caption, hinting that exciting things are ahead.
As a huge fan of Paradise, I’m really curious about what they’re going to do with Wood and Benoist’s characters. It seems like they’re heading into space, which is a big shift! The first season was entirely inside that bunker, and season two was all about surviving on the ruined Earth after ‘The Day.’ Space travel wasn’t even on the radar before, so I’m excited—and a little puzzled—to see how it all fits into the bigger picture.
Just two weeks after the season finale, the show has already been viewed for an impressive 30 million hours, making its popularity clear.
What Is Paradise About?
The show is set three years after a global catastrophe, focusing on the community of people who managed to survive. It centers around Xavier Collins, a Secret Service agent, who is tasked with solving the President’s murder. As Xavier investigates, he becomes a suspect himself, and his pursuit of the truth leads to shocking discoveries.
Season 2 of Paradise follows the search for Teri, as her husband learns how others have been living outside the bunker. At the same time, the city of Paradise starts to unravel when its residents discover the truth about its history and how it came to be.
Paradise Heads Into Season 3
Sterling K. Brown leads the cast of Paradise. Season 2 also features Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Krys Marshall, Enuka Okuma, Aliyah Mastin, Percy Daggs IV, and Charlie Evans. James Marsden, Shailene Woodley, Thomas Doherty, and Jon Beavers appear as recurring guest stars. Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, John Hoberg, Sterling K. Brown, Steve Beers, Glenn Ficarra, and John Requa serve as executive producers.
Critics have praised Paradise, and it became the most-watched show after its second season began.
According to Paradise writer John Hoberg, the show, at its core, is a Western. He describes the main character, Xavier, as a classic Western hero – someone driven by a strong, unwavering purpose and a firm set of principles. Hoberg explains that Xavier serves as the show’s central constant, even as the story explores different genres. Each episode will challenge Xavier’s beliefs and values to see how far he’ll go and whether he’ll break, acting as a stabilizing force throughout the series.
Paradise is streaming now on Hulu.
