Disney Plus Celebrates Zootopia 2 Special Look Debut With New Trailer

A funny new trailer for the Disney+ special, Zootopia 2, has just been released, featuring plenty of animal-themed jokes. The original Zootopia (also known as Zootropolis in some countries) was a huge hit almost ten years ago, introducing audiences to a memorable world of animal characters seen through the eyes of Judy Hopps, an ambitious bunny police officer. The sequel arrives on November 26th, presenting Judy and her partner, Nick Wilde, with a crucial new case. They’ll be facing off against a dangerous criminal, Gary De’Snake, in a mystery that could make or break their careers.

Disney+ shared a new trailer for a special look at Zootopia 2, featuring narration by Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde and a funny interruption from Gary De’Snake.

The trailer starts with Nick Wilde accessing a Disney+ account he shares with his police partner, Judy Hopps. Actress Ginnifer Goodwin, who voices Judy, recently addressed fan speculation about a romantic relationship between their characters.

Wilde playfully presents the animal-focused content available on Deersney+, featuring shows and movies from companies like Pigsar, Mammal Studios, Star Roars, Huluzoo, and Rat Geo. Examples include parodies such as Fantastic Fur, Ham-ilton, The Zimpsons, and The Pandalorian.

Gary De’Snake then shares a first look at Zootopia 2, with the fox police officer encouraging everyone to “visit Deersney+ to watch this special preview.”

If you follow the directions from Wilde and watch the special Disney+ preview, you’ll get a five-minute glimpse of the upcoming Zootopia 2 sequel, set to release in 2025.

When Will Zootopia 2 Be Released on Disney+?

Since Zootopia 2 just came out in theaters on Wednesday, November 26th, we don’t know yet when it will be available to stream on Disney+. But, looking at how long other recent Disney and Pixar movies played in theaters before coming to Disney+ might give us a general idea of when to expect it.

  • Wish: November 22, 2023 – April 3, 2024 (133 days after theatrical)
  • Inside Out 2: June 14, 2024 – September 25, 2024 (104 days after theatrical)
  • Moana 2: November 27, 2024 – March 12, 2025 (105 days after theatrical)
  • Elio: June 20, 2025 – September 17, 2025 (89 days after theatrical)

It’s notable that the films with the longest and shortest waits before becoming available for streaming – Wish and Elio – both underperformed in theaters. On the other hand, the biggest box office hits, Moana 2 and Inside Out 2 (both earning over $1 billion), became available on streaming platforms after roughly the same amount of time – 105 and 104 days, respectively.

Disney is anticipating strong ticket sales for Zootopia 2, building on the success of the first film which grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. This sequel is expected to be another significant success for Disney’s animation studio.

Considering the typical release pattern, Zootopia 2 will probably become available on Disney+ around early or mid-March 2026, roughly 104 to 105 days after its theatrical release.
