Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Gets Filming Update From Director

Dexter: Resurrection season 2 could be arriving sooner than people thought.

Michael C. Hall is famous for playing the complex character Dexter Morgan, a compelling antihero and serial killer, over two decades. The original series, which ran for eight seasons, still has a dedicated fanbase despite a controversial ending, and has now spawned three spinoffs, with the newest one, Resurrection, quickly becoming a favorite among viewers.

Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is gearing up for filming! Director Marcos Siega announced on Instagram that production preparation has wrapped, sharing a photo with writer Scott Reynolds and showrunner Clyde Phillips. He expressed his excitement to begin shooting.

Filming for Season 2 is starting soon, and the cast for the new season of Resurrection has been announced. Brian Cox, known for his roles in Succession, Braveheart, The Bourne Identity, and The Autopsy of Jane Doe, will be playing The New York Ripper. While the identity of this serial killer was kept secret throughout the first season of Dexter: Resurrection, his casting has fans eager to see what’s next for Dexter.

Uma Thurman is returning as Charley Brown, a character who previously left New York after a difficult encounter with Dexter. It appears Charley has reasons to come back, and may be looking for payback related to what happened with Dexter and his son, Harrison.

Leading up to the second season, writer Clyde Phillips has been posting older photos from both Dexter: New Blood and Original Sin. He recently shared a picture of props for Dexter’s house, joking that they were ‘room essentials… if Dexter owns the room.’ He found the items while walking around the props department during preparation for the revival, using the hashtag #DexterResurrection.

Production on Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is scheduled to start later in April 2026. The show will consist of 10 episodes and is aiming for a premiere in October of this year. It will be the first television series filmed at Manhattan’s Sunset Pier 94 Studios, which was reserved even before the studio officially opened.

Drew Brown, Executive Vice President of Production at Paramount TV, announced that the show Dexter will be filming in New York City. He explained this move will allow them to tap into the area’s talented workforce, benefit from local tax incentives, and continue their dedication to producing content within the United States.

Dexter: Resurrection is available to stream on Paramount+.
