Darren Aronofsky’s Thriller Caught Stealing Debuts on Netflix November 29

Despite positive reactions from viewers, Darren Aronofsky’s film Caught Stealing wasn’t a hit in theaters, but it’s now becoming available on streaming services.

As a huge fan of Darren Aronofsky – I love films like Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, and even the challenging Mother! – I was really excited for his latest movie, an action thriller with a fantastic cast including Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, and Bad Bunny. It’s a shame, though, because despite all that talent, it didn’t do very well at the box office. It cost around $40 million to make, but only brought in a little over $31.1 million, meaning it actually lost money.

The movie Caught Stealing will be available on Netflix in the U.S. starting November 29th. Filmmakers hope the wider accessibility will help the film reach a larger audience. The story centers around Hank, a New York City bartender played by Butler, who gets caught up in a gang conflict when he agrees to look after his neighbor Russ’s (played by Smith) apartment and cat.

Darren Aronofsky’s suspenseful film gained attention after its release, quickly becoming a top ten rental on iTunes. Based on Charlie Huston’s gritty 2004 novel, the movie delivers the intense thrills, action, and drama that Aronofsky is known for.

Even though the R-rated thriller Caught Stealing might not be a big hit with audiences, critics are loving it! The film has an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many calling it a “wickedly entertaining” experience full of thrills, surprises, strong acting, and even a touch of sadness.

Austin Butler is quickly becoming one of the most exciting actors working today. I’ve been consistently impressed with his range, from his breakout performance in Elvis to his memorable turns in Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood and the epic Dune: Part Two. Even going back to The Carrie Diaries, you could see the talent was there. And the future looks incredibly bright – if the rumors are true, he’s set to appear in Heat 2 and a Miami Vice reboot, but what really has me buzzing is the news that he’s Luca Guadagnino’s pick to play Patrick Bateman in a remake of American Psycho. That’s a bold choice, and I’m eager to see what he does with the role.

Smith is a well-known actor, having gained widespread recognition for his role as The Doctor in the popular sci-fi series Doctor Who. He’s also appeared in critically acclaimed projects like The Crown, Last Night in Soho, and House of the Dragon.

While Smith doesn’t have as many projects lined up as Butler, he’ll be in the next season of House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel, and will also star in Star Wars: Starfighter with Mia Goth and Ryan Gosling.
