The new series Starfleet Academy is set 300 years in the future of Star Trek, fulfilling a long-held wish among fans. However, framing it as a spin-off of Discovery wasn’t popular with everyone. Despite this, the show’s many nods to older Star Trek series have gradually won over even critical viewers. Since the first season also served as a celebration of Star Trek‘s 60th anniversary, it’s unclear whether the second season will include as many hidden references and inside jokes.

Those three films covered a lot of ground in terms of genre, offering Prime Video viewers plenty to choose from over the weekend. I’m hoping to do the same with my recommendations this weekend, but I’m skipping Prime Video originals this time. Instead, I’ve picked a beloved animated classic and two films that are perfect to watch alongside the Oscars.

Many of the best episodes of Better Call Saul are brilliantly dark and suspenseful, featuring intense violence and unsettling characters that rival the most chilling scenes in Breaking Bad. The show expertly blends its connection to the original series with its own unique direction.

What makes the 1989 Studio Ghibli film Kiki’s Delivery Service so endearing is its honest portrayal of the challenges of everyday life, seen through the eyes of a young girl learning to become independent. Beyond its beautiful animation – which became a hallmark of the “Ghibli style” – the film’s story of Kiki’s personal growth and her ability to adapt to a new place continues to resonate with audiences even today.

The film The Adventures of Tintin was a dream project for director Steven Spielberg, based on the popular Belgian comic series. Although Spielberg has a lot of creative freedom, it took years of work to finally bring the comic to life on the big screen. Luckily, the effort paid off, and the movie deserves to be remembered and enjoyed.

Based on Andrea Mara’s 2021 novel, the eight-part series launched on Peacock in November 2025 and quickly became the platform’s most popular show. Viewers watched an impressive 46 million hours of ‘All Her Fault’ in its first three weeks, making it the biggest debut for a Peacock original.

Paramount+ announced on March 13th that filming for Season 5 is now underway in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Joining the cast as a new regular is David Morse, known for his role in We Were Liars. He will portray Russell Hardy, an experienced FBI agent, on Mayor of Kingstown.

The second season of Born Again starts streaming on Disney+ on March 24th, continuing directly from the events of the first season. The new trailer and teaser reveal that Matt Murdock is building a team to take down Wilson Fisk’s control over New York City. We’ve already seen some of his recruits in action, including White Tiger, and there are hints that even more allies will join his fight.

Though War Machine showed the first signs of an alien invasion, Battle: Los Angeles plunges viewers directly into the chaos as enemy spacecraft begin landing near major cities. The film focuses on Los Angeles and follows Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz, played by The Dark Knight star, as he leads his Marine platoon into a desperate fight – one humanity is clearly not ready for.
