Another Bridgerton will find love quite soon.
Bridgerton is a huge hit for Netflix, ranking among the top ten most popular English-language series of all time – along with Wednesday and Stranger Things – as one of only three shows with multiple seasons in the top ten. Based on the popular novels by Julia Quinn, the Bridgerton universe now includes four seasons of the main series and a spin-off called Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Currently, the creators are working on the next installment, and one of the Bridgerton siblings will find love sooner than fans anticipated.
Netflix has announced that season 5 of Bridgerton will premiere in 2027, as reported by Variety. This is the quickest turnaround yet for the popular romance series, as previous seasons typically had two-year gaps between releases. Season 4 launched in two parts, beginning January 29th and continuing February 26th, and season 3 also used this release format, which will likely be repeated for season 5.
The popular romance series Bridgerton first appeared on Netflix on December 25, 2020. New seasons have been released roughly every two years: season 2 in 2022, season 3 in 2024, and season 4 in 2026. Each season centers on the love life of a different Bridgerton sibling. Daphne was the focus of season 1, Anthony in season 2, Colin in season 3, and Benedict in the most recent season. Netflix has confirmed that Francesca will be the central figure in season 5.
Francesca Bridgerton first fell in love with and married John Stirling. However, his character was tragically killed off in season four, leading Francesca to find solace and a new connection with John’s cousin, Michaela. Netflix recently announced that Francesca and Michaela will be the central couple in season five, and production has already begun on the new season.
Season 5 of Bridgerton will pick up two years after John’s death, and will feature Michaela returning to Francesca’s life just as Francesca begins looking for a husband. Michaela’s arrival will force Francesca to decide between following her heart and making a sensible choice. Netflix renewed the popular series for both seasons 5 and 6 in May. Following the storyline of the Bridgerton siblings, Claudia Jessie’s Eloise is expected to take center stage in season 6. Showrunner Jess Brownell hinted in January that seasons 5 and 6 will focus on the stories of Eloise and Francesca.
Initially, the show kept quiet about which sibling would be the focus of future seasons. Now that season 5 will center on Francesca, fans know Eloise will finally get her turn in a couple of years. After Eloise’s season, Bridgerton has enough material for two more seasons, following Gregory and Hyacinth. These seasons might arrive sooner than expected, especially if season 5 breaks viewership records on Netflix.
