A recent report announced a new villain joining the cast of *Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse*. This final installment in Sony’s *Spider-Verse* trilogy promises to be even more challenging for Miles Morales, especially after the last film left him stranded on Earth-42 and confronting an alternate version of himself who became Prowler. While Miles will likely battle this evil alternate, the movie will also introduce other villains from across the Multiverse.
The upcoming movie, *Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse*, features a star-studded cast, bringing back popular actors like Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, and Jason Schwartzman. Though The Spot is anticipated to be the primary villain, a new villain has also been announced.
Marvin Jones III is returning to voice the villain Tombstone in the upcoming movie, *Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse*. With this casting, the film now has seven confirmed villains. Jones previously voiced the character in *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse*.
I remember Tombstone being one of Kingpin’s most reliable guys in the first movie. And considering he actually *survived* the events of *Into the Spider-Verse* – even after taking a beating from Spider-Noir – it felt totally natural to see him pop up again in the third film. It wasn’t a surprise at all, and honestly, I was glad to see him back!
We don’t yet know exactly what Tombstone will do in *Beyond the Spider-Verse*, but there are several possibilities. The Tombstone from the first movie might cause trouble on Miles Morales’ home Earth, especially since there are no Spider-People currently available to stop him.
It’s also possible we’ll see another version of Tombstone from across the multiverse, and he might even team up with Miles Morales’ Prowler on Earth-42.
The release of *Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse* has been pushed back. It was originally scheduled for March 29, 2024, but will now come out on June 25, 2027.
Every Confirmed Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Villain (After Tombstone)
The Spot
Initially presented as a humorous character, The Spot’s role in the conclusion of *Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse* strongly suggests he’ll be a major, and potentially the main, antagonist in *Beyond the Spider-Verse*.
I was completely shocked by the ending of the sequel! It looks like The Spot is about to do something terrible to Miles Morales’ dad back in his original dimension, and it feels like this huge, unavoidable event is going to change Miles forever. Plus, The Spot is way more dangerous now. Traveling through the Multiverse with his portals has seriously boosted his powers, and it’s not just Miles’ family that’s at risk anymore.
Honestly, it’s terrifying! He’s basically tearing the Multiverse apart, making all of reality unstable, and our Spider-Men have to find a way to stop him before everything collapses. It’s a race against time, and I’m really worried about what will happen if they fail.
Prowler (Earth-42)
The ending of *Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse* revealed that the main Miles Morales was captured by a version of himself, Miles G. Morales from another universe. This sets the stage for a powerful and emotional showdown between the two in the next movie.
The film’s conclusion revealed that Miles Morales didn’t gain his powers from a radioactive spider bite. This ultimately led to his uncle, Aaron Davis, steering him toward becoming the Prowler.
Kemp Powers, a co-director on both Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse, has indicated that Miles Morales will be central to the third film, suggesting there’s much more to discover about his character.
I was absolutely blown away by this new character – it was tough for the team to keep it under wraps, honestly! The design is a huge departure from what we’ve seen before, it’s so fresh. What really got me thinking was exploring how Miles could have grown up differently – what if he didn’t have his dad, and his uncle was his mentor instead? It makes you wonder what kind of person he’d be. And honestly, if you see Miles G. Morales at the end, don’t make quick assumptions. There’s so much more to him than meets the eye – he’s a really, really compelling character.
It’s still uncertain if Miles Morales will find redemption in *Beyond the Spider-Verse*, but he’s sure to be a powerful and significant character.
Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099)
Miguel O’Hara, Spider-Man from the future, is determined to capture Miles Morales. He wants to keep Miles contained within the Spider Society to prevent him from altering a crucial event: the death of Miles’ father in the reality known as Earth-1610.
Although Miles initially got away, Miguel and his team eventually found him on Earth-42. The story later showed that Miles traveled to Earth-1610 specifically to make sure Jefferson Davis died, as this event is crucial to establishing his own place in the timeline.
Beyond viewing Miles as a threat, Miguel knows about The Spot causing trouble throughout the Multiverse and understands that stopping him is crucial to saving everything.
Aaron Davis (Earth-42)
Okay, so I was shocked when Aaron Davis, the Prowler, died in *Into the Spider-Verse*! But then, at the end of *Across the Spider-Verse*, a new version of him showed up! And honestly? This new Aaron seems even more intimidating than the original, even without all the high-tech Prowler gear. It’s a little scary, but I’m really excited to see what happens with him next!
This version of Aaron Davis realized Miles Morales from Earth-1610 wasn’t the one he remembered, so he restrained him and took him to his actual nephew.
We don’t know a lot about Aaron Davis yet, but the next movie might share more about his past and connections to villains from another Earth.
Spider-Woman
Jessica Drew, also known as Spider-Woman, is a key ally to Spider-Man 2099, helping the Spider Society achieve its objectives and protect the Multiverse. As shown in the ending of *Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse*, she sides with Miguel O’Hara and accompanies him on a mission to Earth-1610 to make sure Jefferson Davis dies.
Because Jessica is so devoted to Miguel, she’ll likely end up battling Miles and Spider-Gwen’s team in the next movie. However, it’s possible they’ll eventually team up to defeat The Spot and his dangerous plans for the Multiverse.
Scarlet-Spider
Scarlet Spider, voiced by Adam Samberg, is a key member of the Spider Society and is loyal to Miguel O’Hara in the new movie.
He teams up with Miguel and Jessica Drew in Earth-1610 to make sure Jefferson Davis dies, ultimately becoming a major villain for Miles Morales in the third movie of the series.
Sinister Six
The art book for *Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse*, released by Sony Pictures Animation, strongly hinted that a version of the Sinister Six from Earth-42 will appear in the next film, *Beyond the Spider-Verse*.
The book reveals that in an alternate universe (Earth-42), the Sinister Six have successfully conquered the world. This means there are at least five additional Spider-Man enemies operating in that universe. Prowler might join their ranks, and the recent reappearance of Tombstone suggests he could be involved as well.
The team could also include villains like Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Vulture, Green Goblin, and Electro.
