A short video showing what it was like on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has recently been released online.

Released in 2016, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was a Warner Bros. and DC Studios film directed by Zack Snyder. It was the second movie in what was then known as the DCEU, following 2013’s Man of Steel. The DCEU concluded in 2023 with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and James Gunn and Peter Safran have since started a new, separate DC universe called the DCU.

What is happening in the Batman v Superman scene?

As a huge Batman fan, I always found the ‘Nightmare’ scene in Batman v Superman really fascinating, even though it’s sparked a lot of debate. It starts with Bruce Wayne having this intense dream, showing a possible future where everything’s gone wrong. We see Batman in a totally destroyed world, and it’s shocking because he’s breaking his most important rule – he’s killing heroes! Then, right after that, he’s confronted with Superman, but this Superman seems totally corrupted and evil. It’s a wild sequence that really sets the stage for the conflict.

So, from what I understand from a recent Hollywood Reporter article, that crazy Knightmare sequence we saw? It all comes down to the Flash messing with time travel using this thing called the cosmic treadmill. Apparently, there was supposed to be a scene where Batman and Cyborg were figuring out when to send the Flash back to, to stop Lois Lane from dying. And get this – Lois’s death is what actually makes Superman vulnerable to Darkseid’s really nasty Anti-Life Equation, which is what creates that awful future the League was trying to prevent. It’s a lot, but it explains why that Knightmare stuff was so bleak!
