Okay, so as a huge Marvel fan, I was checking out the presale numbers for Avengers: Doomsday, and they are absolutely insane! Seriously, in just one day, it made twice as much in advance ticket sales as Deadpool & Wolverine did total. And that’s even without really relying on IMAX showings – because Dune 3 is taking over all the IMAX screens when Doomsday actually opens on December 18th. It’s wild to think about how much bigger this could have been with full IMAX support!
Despite the limited availability of pre-sale tickets for Avengers: Doomsday – offered only for premium formats like Infinity Vision, DBox, XD, and 4DX in just 1,000 theaters – the film still performed exceptionally well at the box office, exceeding expectations.
After its first two days, screenings of Avengers: Doomsday were almost completely sold out, in many locations as of Tuesday.
Will Avengers: Doomsday Be the Highest-Grossing Film in Marvel History?
The film is expected to be a hit when it’s released on December 18, 2026. Before that, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is coming out this summer, and that suggests 2024 will be a very successful year for Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige.
Look, I get why people were upset when Marvel announced Robert Downey Jr. was coming back – but as Victor Von Doom! It’s a huge shift after everyone loved him as Iron Man for so long, and it’s going to be wild seeing him embrace that ‘God Emperor’ role. And then there was the Chris Evans news. People freaked out about his return, even though he’s not playing Captain America this time around. It’s a lot to take in, but honestly, I’m excited to see where they’re going with all this.
Ultimately, none of this will matter if the movie lives up to the excitement generated by the first trailer. That trailer was packed with incredible moments, most notably when Doom stopped Thor’s powerful Stormbreaker with just a single finger. Remember, Stormbreaker easily sliced through an energy blast from the Infinity Gauntlet and even brought Thanos to his knees!
Everyone is expecting big things from Avengers: Doomsday, and it has the potential to become Marvel Studios’ most successful film ever.
