Princess Azula is returning with her signature blue flames in a newly released preview, and fans are incredibly excited, calling it one of the best reveals so far.
A popular villain from Avatar: The Last Airbender is the focus of a new, action-packed trailer. It shows off some of her most memorable scenes from the show and gives a first look at how powerful she is in the game.
Azula Returns: Avatar Legends Finally Reveals Princess of the Fire Nation
A new trailer featuring the character Azula was released on May 23rd on the AvatarFighters YouTube channel and has quickly gained over 93,000 views.
The video’s official caption reads, “True power, the divine right to rule, is something she was born with. Azula’s unraveling psyche and duality turns into her greatest strength, from poise and precision to mellifluous madness. Unlike a certain exiled prince, she settles for nothing less than perfection.”
The trailer, which is a minute and 48 seconds long, shows Azula fighting key characters like Aang, Katara, and Zuko in the Fire Lord’s throne room. Her moves in the game seem to be based on how she fought towards the end of the original animated series. A lot of the trailer focuses on her fights with Zuko, bringing their intense battles from the show to life. There’s even a moment that references Zuko’s famous lightning redirection, recreating a particularly memorable scene.
The trailer showcases different fighting styles connected to her unstable mental state, like “Li and Lo – Longer Traps,” “Joo Dee – Always in Focused Mode,” and most significantly, “Ursa, Always in Firelord Mode.” This last form is triggered by a broken mirror showing her mother’s image, which strongly recalls Azula’s mental collapse before she tried to become Fire Lord.
The trailer really highlights her fast-paced and skillful fighting style. She still has all her signature moves, including quick strikes, powerful fire blades, close-combat techniques, and ranged attacks. The animation perfectly shows both her grace and unpredictable nature, making her movements look beautiful and wild. Online, fans are particularly impressed with the smooth animation and level of detail, and many say seeing Azula was enough to make them buy the game.
Launching on July 2, 2026, this new 2D fighting game takes inspiration from beloved classic fighting games. It focuses on smooth gameplay, quick reactions, and fair online competition, all while capturing the look of the original animated series with beautifully hand-drawn graphics.
The game features 12 characters to play as, drawn from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. So far, confirmed characters include Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Azula, Ozai, and Avatar Kyoshi, as well as Korra and Zaheer from The Legend of Korra.
The title will launch with a standard edition priced at $29.99, while a Deluxe Edition featuring a Year 1 character pass with five additional fighters will retail for $49.99. The game is currently available for pre-order on Steam and is also planned for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms.
