The cancellation of the show came suddenly as it was gaining momentum, leaving viewers confused and disappointed with an unresolved ending. It felt less like a practical business decision and more like a letdown for fans. Netflix had built a reputation for supporting original and unconventional content, things that traditional TV wouldn’t touch. By ending Santa Clarita Diet, Netflix abandoned one of its most unique and creative shows. Its blend of horror, comedy, and family life was different from the formulaic content Netflix is now producing, prioritizing profit over bold storytelling. People may ultimately remember the show not for its shocking moments, but as an example of when Netflix was willing to take chances and achieve success, before shifting its priorities.

Recent comments from Matt Reeves, director of The Batman 2, suggest that Robin won’t be in the upcoming film. Arthur Mintz, director of a Dynamic Duo documentary, revealed that Reeves had long been interested in telling a Robin story, but believed animation was the best approach. This idea gained momentum when a script pitch from a writer who worked on Disney and Pixar’s Coco was well-received by the team.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Colin Farrell will play Father Roy Craig, a priest who gives last rites to a mob boss. Surprisingly, the boss survives and confesses his crimes to the priest. This quickly puts Father Roy in danger, as hitmen, corrupt police, and other gangsters are sent after him by the mob boss, who wants to keep his secrets hidden. However, Father Roy has a hidden, violent past that makes him more formidable than anyone realizes – though he still adheres to the commandment against killing. The script for the film, titled Ordained, will be written by Derek Kolstad, known for his work on John Wick.

Besides the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony also created a universe based on Spider-Man characters. While 2018’s Venom was successful, the franchise didn’t really grow as Sony intended. I was reading an interview with Dave Bautista over at MovieWeb, and he was talking about his new movie, Trap House. Joe Deckelmeier asked him what he thought of the younger actors – Jack Champion, Sophia Lillis, and Blu del Barrio – and if they impressed him. Bautista initially said ‘Nothing,’ which threw me for a second! But he quickly explained that wasn’t him playing a character. He already knew they were fantastic, and it all came down to really smart casting choices. He said they were very careful about who they picked for the film, and honestly, it shows. He even hinted that Trap House could be the beginning of a huge action franchise, which is exciting to hear!

This is a huge change from the bright, driven girl who, when she started at Chilton, dreamed of becoming a war correspondent like Christiane Amanpour. While we didn’t anticipate a flawless life for Rory in A Year in the Life, we certainly didn’t want to see her end up pregnant and on her own. It’s disappointing because the show had already set up a believable situation where Rory could have struggled and learned, but it didn’t quite work out that way.
