Television excels at creating memorable villains, from subtly menacing killers to wildly unpredictable criminals. In the last three decades, some of the most popular shows have been defined by their captivating antagonists. A truly exceptional villain can often outshine even a strong hero, grabbing the audience’s attention with sheer force of personality. This success paves the way for three more video game movies coming out later this year, all hoping to achieve similar results.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was first released on PlayStation 5 in 2024, with a version for Windows PCs following in 2025. While sales didn’t meet Square Enix’s goals, many players felt this was because it was only available on one platform. Now, the game is expanding to other consoles, launching on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on June 3, 2026.

While Wonder Woman hasn’t been cast for the DC Universe yet, the franchise has shown it’s willing to introduce heroes before announcing who will play them in live-action movies. We saw this with Batman, who appeared in the animated series Creature Commandos before his live-action actor was revealed. This means Wonder Woman could potentially appear in the DCU at any time, even before a casting announcement.
