Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s Official Map Is Huge

Doesn’t Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced look amazing? The remake of Assassin’s Creed 4 is officially launching on July 9, 2026, meaning we’ll soon be able to play as Edward Kenway and explore the Caribbean aboard the Jackdaw. But just how extensive is this remake?

The world of Assassin’s Creed 4 was already impressively large, and it’s still one of the biggest in the Assassin’s Creed series. Black Flag features a map of around 230–235 square kilometers filled with islands to discover. While some islands are small and unimportant, others contain towns, cities, and sprawling jungles.

Will Black Flag Resynced have a larger open world than the first game? Yes, it will! While you might expect the remake to have a similar map, Black Flag Resynced will actually include areas that were originally only available as downloadable content in the original game.

Zephryss, a dedicated fan and content creator for the Assassin’s Creed series, recently received early access materials from Ubisoft, including a detailed map of Black Flag Resynced. They shared on X that the remake will include three areas previously available only as downloadable content: Black Island, Mystery Island, and Sacrifice Island. You can view the complete map below.

Since the original Black Flag was a pretty lengthy game – players who try to complete everything usually spend around 62 hours – we can expect Black Flag Resynced to keep us entertained for quite some time, particularly with the significant changes Ubisoft is implementing.

A couple of the biggest improvements are that you won’t automatically fail stealth sections during tailing missions anymore, and now you can adopt a cat or monkey to accompany you on the Jackdaw ship. While GTA 6 looks impressive, sailing with a monkey is a game of the year contender! Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is really coming together nicely.
