Pluribus Is a Major Hit for Apple TV
The show Pluribus received overwhelmingly positive reviews when it launched, earning a 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s now being considered for an award at an upcoming ceremony. The first season finished airing on Apple TV late last year, and it’s been seven months since then. Recently, Matt Cherniss, who heads programming at Apple TV, confirmed that work on Season 2 is still in the early stages of writing. This is intentional; the streaming service wants creator Vince Gilligan to have plenty of time to ensure the new episodes are as good as possible.
Vince is dedicated and carefully working to ensure the new season meets viewers’ high expectations. It’s a complex show to film, making it difficult to fit into the next production cycle. However, early scripts are promising, and development is progressing well, so we’re looking forward to its return, he told Variety.
The Writing Process Isn’t Being Rushed for Season 2
I was listening to the Inside of You podcast, and Rhea Seehorn talked about the new season. She said everyone is working incredibly hard on it, and she’s been staying away from the set because she doesn’t want to interrupt their process. Apparently, they’re really focused on getting things going quickly, but also on making sure the quality of the writing and production lives up to what fans expect – they want to give the audience something truly smart and well-made.
The series centers around Rhea Seehorn (known from Better Call Saul), who plays Carol Sturka, a writer and one of the few people unaffected by an alien virus that changes minds. Pluribus also features Karolina Wydra (True Blood), Carlos-Manuel Vesga (Operación Pacífico), Miriam Shor (The Americans), and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death).
