The latest Absolute edition of DC Comics’ Superman is pitting the hero against his most famous enemies, and they’re completely unaware of what’s coming.
A preview of DC Comics’ Absolute Superman #15 (from Jason Aaron, Juan Ferreyra, and Becca Carey) shows Superman constantly rushing to prevent disasters. When he discovers a series of fires at factories owned by Winslow Schott—the Toyman—Superman immediately confronts him and destroys his office.

DC Comics’ Absolute Superman #15 will show a typical day for Superman after the events in Kansas. The issue explores how the battle has impacted his life, relationships, and even his suit. Featuring art by Juan Ferreyra (known for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), this issue focuses on what it’s like to be the world’s busiest hero.
The character of Toyman first appeared in 1943, in the comic book Action Comics #64, in a story called “The Terrible Toyman” by Don C. Cameron and Ed Dobrotka. As with many versions of the character, the original Toyman seemed like a normal person who was good with toys and building things. However, he gradually became corrupt and started using his creations to commit robberies.
Toyman has been updated and reinterpreted many times throughout the years, but most versions of the character share a similar core concept. He consistently appears as one of Superman’s recurring enemies. While he isn’t typically as dangerous as villains like Parasite or Brainiac, Toyman has still caused significant trouble on numerous occasions.
Absolute Superman is currently enjoying the peak of his career, having recently defeated Ra’s al Ghul. After a months-long struggle against Peacemaker’s forces and other military opposition in Kansas, Superman finally confronted the villain in an epic showdown now known as the Battle of Kansas.
Okay, so Absolute Superman beat Ra’s al Ghul, which was awesome, but it definitely doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods! There are still so many powerful villains out there. Honestly, I’m really hoping we get to see a full-on introduction to Absolute Lex Luthor soon – that last glimpse of him was way too short! I’m dying to know what this version of Lex is all about.
Absolute Superman #15 goes on sale January 7 from DC Comics
