Harry Potter Series’ First Official Looks At New Platform 9 3/4 & The Leaky Cauldron Finally Revealed

Fans are getting their first glimpses of the upcoming HBO series based on Harry Potter, with images released of iconic locations like Platform 9 3/4 and the Leaky Cauldron.

Filming for the new show started in July 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden – the famous studio where the Harry Potter movies were made. It’s scheduled to debut in 2027. The producers plan to cover one book per season and are committed to staying true to the original story, with more information being revealed as time goes on.

HBO gave a few influencers an exclusive sneak peek at the new Harry Potter set, letting them film popular locations like Platform 9 3/4 and the Leaky Cauldron. The videos they shared reveal a remarkably detailed and realistic King’s Cross station platform still under construction, featuring accurate details from the books, train tracks, and station signage.

Caco Cardassi shared his excitement on Twitter, announcing a visit to the sets of the Harry Potter films! He posted a video showcasing iconic locations like the Hogwarts Express, Platform 9 3/4, and what looks like the Leaky Cauldron pub, even posing behind the bar.

Influencer Kierra Lewis shared on Instagram that she was invited to the set of the new Harry Potter series. In a video posted, she excitedly explored the set, saying it promises a Harry Potter experience unlike anything fans have seen before.

Jana Riva described her experience getting to be on set as the “Best day in [her] life.”

Finally, digital creator @capa_invisible, who jokingly identifies with the Slytherin house from Harry Potter, posted on Instagram about how much larger the franchise has become than expected. She wrote, “[Harry Potter] is much bigger than we imagined.”

Recent videos show that the Leaky Cauldron set is being constructed with an alleyway entrance, matching the description in the books. Also, the Platform 9 3/4 exhibit appears to be very faithful to the books and films, and is meeting fans’ high expectations.

Platform 9 3/4 is a key location in the Harry Potter series. It’s where students catch the Hogwarts Express to start their magical education and begin a new chapter in their lives. The story comes full circle in the epilogue, set nineteen years later, when Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione return to the platform to see their own children off to Hogwarts.

A visitor to the set described it as being built like a connected world. The Leaky Cauldron, Diagon Alley, Gringotts Bank, and the inside of Hogwarts Castle are all being created as areas that flow seamlessly into one another. This design promises a highly immersive experience for viewers, allowing characters to move naturally between different locations.

Francesca Gardiner, the writer and executive producer known for shows like His Dark Materials and Succession, is leading the project. Mark Mylod, who directed and executive produced Game of Thrones and Succession, will direct several episodes. J.K. Rowling is contributing to the overall vision of the series but won’t be involved in the daily creative process.

Now that HBO has given content creators, influencers, and fans a sneak peek at iconic filming locations, expect to hear more news about the upcoming Harry Potter TV series soon.
