The network has officially ordered another season of The Audacity. This announcement comes just over a month before the show’s first season begins airing on TV and streaming online.
The new series, The Audacity, will debut on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, April 12th. AMC Networks has already renewed the show for a second season, which will also have eight episodes. This news comes right before the series premieres at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.
The Audacity Features a Stellar Cast
Jonathan Glatzer, a writer for Better Call Saul who also worked on Succession and Bad Sisters, created The Audacity. The show boasts a talented cast including Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die), Sarah Goldberg (Barry), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Lucy Punch (Bloods), Simon Helberg (The Big Bang Theory), Rob Corddry (The Daily Show), Meaghan Rath (Hawaii Five-0), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), Everett Blunck, Thalley Roberge, and Ava Marie Telek.
According to creator Glatzer, the show The Audacity came about because Kristin Dolan, Dan McDermott, and AMC Networks were willing to take a risk. They gave Glatzer and the cast the freedom to explore complex characters within the world of social media – a world that profoundly impacts how we live and interact. AMC Networks’ decision to renew the show for a second season proves their commitment to this unique and daring satire, and Glatzer expresses both gratitude as the creator and excitement as a fan of bold storytelling.
Will The Audacity Be the Next Breaking Bad-Style Hit?
The new series, The Audacity, dives into the strange world of tech entrepreneurs and the lengths they’ll go to achieve their ambitions. It follows a data-mining CEO (Magnussen) who’s determined to profit from understanding – and manipulating – people’s behavior. Set against a backdrop of wealthy, disillusioned individuals and cutting-edge technology, the darkly funny drama examines questions of truth, privacy, and the illusions driving modern life.
The early renewal of The Audacity shows AMC is very confident in the show’s potential. AMC has had great success with high-quality dramas featuring complicated characters, like Breaking Bad and its spin-off, Better Call Saul. This new show, created by a writer from Better Call Saul and also focusing on flawed characters, could be the network’s attempt to replicate that success with another character-driven hit. Only time will tell if The Audacity can live up to those expectations.
The Audacity will premiere on Apr. 12 on AMC and AMC+.
