Good news for Rick and Morty fans! A spin-off series focusing on President Curtis, voiced by the always-fantastic Keith David, is coming soon. David recently revealed when viewers can expect the new show to premiere.
President Curtis spin-off to get a 2026 release date
I’m so excited! Keith David just let slip that the President Curtis spin-off is coming later this year! It’s been a while since Adult Swim first announced it at Comic-Con in 2025, and this is the first real news we’ve had about when we can actually expect it, according to Screenrant.
David, who has won three Emmy Awards and first appeared in Rick and Morty’s popular “Get Schwifty” episode, has promised fans that the character of Curtis will remain consistent. He explained that Curtis is still the same President we know from the original series, hinting that the new spin-off will feel similar in tone to the rest of the show.
The new series comes from Dan Harmon, the creator of Rick and Morty, and James Siciliano, who started as a writer’s assistant on the original show back in season 3 and eventually became an executive producer and writer. Joining David will be Jim Rash, also known for Community, and Stephanie Beatriz, who stars in Hazbin Hotel.
The show centers around the President, who deals with crises that Rick and Morty usually overlook, giving a new look at their sci-fi world. It’s the third spin-off from the franchise, after ‘Vindicators 2’ (2022) and an anime series (late 2024). Unfortunately, neither of those earlier spin-offs were renewed for a second season.
With Rick and Morty season 9 anticipated in Fall 2026, the upcoming release of President Curtis sets up a potentially exciting year for Adult Swim, giving them two big show launches. The network might even air them one after the other, providing fans with plenty of content from Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon.
