Wonder Man’s Ending Is Hiding the Most Brutal Marvel Twist in Years: Here’s Why

Disney+’s new series, Wonder Man, is a big success, quickly becoming popular worldwide. While the finale appears positive, it actually contains a surprisingly dark twist – something much more intense than fans typically expect from Marvel stories.

What Happens in Wonder Man’s Ending?

The final episode, ‘Yucca Valley,’ shows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) facing the fallout from losing his abilities and the threat of being arrested by Damage Control. Luckily, his friend and mentor, Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), steps in to save him. Trevor pretends to be the Mandarin, a former terrorist leader, and takes the blame for an explosion, fooling the public in the process.

Simon finishes working on the movie Wonder Man just as Trevor is sent to prison, allowing him to shine as an actor and achieve a lifelong goal. Afterward, when Simon chooses his next role, viewers are surprised to see him observing a prison guard named Chuck Eastman.

Okay, so I was totally wrong about Simon following Chuck! It wasn’t for a job at all – he was actually trying to get close enough to help Trevor escape from prison, and they ended up going on the run together. It’s so cool how their friendship works – Trevor saved Simon before, and now Simon is risking everything for Trevor. We don’t know what the future holds for them, but they’re together and free, and that’s what matters!

As a thoughtful gesture, Simon provides Chuck with enough funds to leave his stressful job at the DoD prison and comfortably support his family. However, there’s a catch…

Wonder Man’s Chuck Eastman Is Going to Jail

Okay, so Simon Williams meant well giving Chuck that gift, but honestly, I think he totally messed things up for the guy. Chuck was already in a really tough spot, and now… well, let’s just say things are about to get a whole lot worse.

The episode concludes with Chuck having committed a serious crime. He deliberately deceived his superiors to allow an unauthorized person into the prison, which ultimately led to an escape. Even though he was unaware of Simon’s intentions, Chuck’s actions were a clear and significant offense.

Simon’s generous gift will create the impression that Chuck was intentionally involved in the escape. It will be nearly impossible to convince any American court that Simon wasn’t bribing Chuck for his help, particularly considering the large sum of money involved. Even more concerning, the public believes Simon didn’t just free a common criminal, but a dangerous terrorist leader who posed a direct threat to the president.

Will the Department of Defense be sympathetic to Chuck? Probably not, based on the behavior of Arian Moayed’s character, Agent P. Cleary. The DoDC is facing significant budget constraints, and Cleary is ruthlessly focused on his job, showing little regard for anyone who challenges him.

The Department of Defense is likely to punish Chuck Eastman severely to safeguard its own image.

Hopefully, Marvel Undoes Wonder Man’s Dark Twist

The MCU isn’t necessarily committed to keeping Chuck Eastman in prison for life. But to avoid that unsettling idea, either the Wonder Man show or another MCU project needs to show that he actually escaped consequences for what he did.

A thorough investigation into how Simon escaped will quickly expose Chuck’s dishonesty and his recent financial windfall. It’s highly unlikely Chuck will remain free, especially considering we’ve already met his family, making the situation even more painful. Therefore, viewers need to see clear evidence that Chuck isn’t going to jail before they’ll accept a happy ending for him.
