Avengers: Doomsday might not end up being the crossover team-up movie most fans are expecting.
As the expected release of ‘Doomsday’ in December 2026 gets closer, online discussions about the movie are increasing. Current reports suggest ‘Doomsday’ won’t be a traditional Avengers team-up like ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’.
It’s every universe for itself in Avengers: Doomsday
Okay, so I’m hearing some interesting stuff from Alex Perez over at Cosmic Circus – apparently, Doctor Strange isn’t the only hero who’s going to make some tough, potentially betraying choices in ‘Doomsday’. It sounds like with so many universes on the brink of collapse, everyone’s just going to be focused on saving their own, even if it means letting others fall. It’s a pretty bleak outlook, but honestly, it makes sense given the stakes!
Perez argued on X that while Infinity War presented Thanos’s motivations, it was still clear to viewers that the Avengers and Guardians were the heroes, and Thanos and his Black Order were the villains.
According to a source, the ‘Doomsday’ event will be a desperate struggle for survival across all universes. Heroes will be tested to their absolute limits, forced to make difficult choices and potentially compromise their values to succeed. The source also hinted at surprising betrayals along the way.
Rumors suggested the beginning of Avengers: Doomsday would feature a battle between Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Doc Ock against the X-Men from the Fox universe, ultimately leading to the destruction of Spider-Man’s world.
Marvel Studios has been setting up a series of events where different universes within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) start to crash into each other. These events, called incursions, are incredibly dangerous, potentially wiping out entire realities when universes collide. We saw a glimpse of this in the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022, and again in The Marvels in 2023, where Monica Rambeau found herself stuck in a different universe after closing a tear between worlds.
