The saying goes that if you can’t handle pressure, you should leave – but that doesn’t apply to Nicolas Cage. The acclaimed actor is known for his intense roles in action movies, starring in ’90s hits like Con Air, Face/Off, and The Rock. He’s continuing that tradition with his new film, Best Pancakes in the County, a high-energy thriller described as ‘explosive.’ Cage plays a con artist caught in a dangerous situation at a local diner, where things quickly become complicated.
I’m so excited about this new show, Best Pancakes in the County! From what I’ve read in Deadline, it’s going to be a really intense thriller. The whole thing happens in one night at this little diner, and it quickly turns into a dangerous situation. Apparently, rogue federal agents show up, along with a smooth-talking con man with a shady history, and the waitress working there has secrets of her own. It sounds like everyone’s loyalties are questioned, things get heated, and it’s a fight to see who can stay alive. Honestly, the title is ironic – the pancakes are probably the least of what you need to worry about in this place!
Shelley Hennig, known for her role in Ouija, will play a waitress in the new film, and Justin Long, from Barbarian, has also joined the cast, though his role is currently secret. Production is already happening, which is surprising given how little has been revealed about the project. Filming is taking place in Arkansas, a fitting location for what appears to be a small-town story with potential for wide release. Fortitude International is managing international sales and will be showcasing the film at the European Film Market next month.
