‘3 Days Rising’ Trailer: Mickey Rourke Stars in Horror “Reimagining”

Despite recent personal difficulties, including an eviction, Mickey Rourke is returning to acting with a new film called 3 Days Rising. A trailer has just been released, offering a first look at his latest role. Rourke has been working on several smaller projects lately, which haven’t gotten much attention in theaters but have found an audience online. He’s joined in this suspenseful independent thriller by the late Peter Greene, in his final leading role, along with Ice-T, Vincent Young, and Kelly Monroe. The film features Rourke playing a complex and potentially villainous character, so the other actors might want to be on their guard.

A new trailer has been released for 3 Days Rising, a fresh take on Edgar Allan Poe’s classic story, The Fall of the House of Usher. While the story has been adapted for film and television several times – most recently in a highly praised and frightening series by Mike Flanagan for Netflix – this new movie appears to be equally unsettling and graphic. Though Rourke’s character, “Willy T,” has limited screen time in the trailer, the story primarily focuses on Greene’s portrayal of a deeply troubled and isolated character, according to the official description.

3 Days Rising is a beautifully haunting and suspenseful film that retells the story of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher. Eric Usher (Peter Greene), living in isolation, struggles with his inner demons and what’s real as he’s forced to choose between his brother and sister, Rick and Cher, and his own chance at redemption. His decision – and his sanity – will determine life or death, all while strange people enter his world, leading to a shocking and violent ending that Poe himself would likely appreciate.

Craig Cukrowski’s first feature film as director, 3 Days Rising, features Mickey Rourke in a role Cukrowski wrote specifically for him. Cukrowski described landing Rourke as a dream come true, explaining they had always pictured him in the part while writing the story. Although they didn’t wait for Rourke to commit before starting production, they were thrilled to finally secure him two weeks in and film his scenes a week later.
