Seven years after the final film in the sequel trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker, fans will finally see Kylo Ren come face-to-face with Darth Vader. Throughout the three movies, Kylo Ren’s fascination with his grandfather is a central theme, making this meeting a long-anticipated moment for Star Wars enthusiasts.
Darth Vader and Kyle Ren to meet in upcoming Star Wars comic-book issue
The final issue of the Marvel Comics series Legacy of Vader, created by Charles Soule and Luke Ross, hints at a confrontation between Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. The story takes place between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, and focuses on Kylo Ren’s time as Supreme Leader of the First Order. The first issue was released on February 5, 2025.
So far, eleven issues of the comic book series have been released. The twelfth and final issue will conclude the story, and previews suggest a showdown between the main villain and his grandson. It looks like Kylo Ren might even be able to truly communicate with Darth Vader, going beyond the limited connection he’s experienced through Vader’s damaged mask.
The Darth Vader Kylo Ren interacts with might not be Anakin Skywalker’s spirit at all. By the time of the sequel trilogy, Anakin has already found peace and become a Force Ghost. This suggests the encounter could be a manipulation by Palpatine, who previously claimed to be the source of all the voices Kylo heard in his head.
I still remember being completely blown away when the original Star Wars movies came out – they truly captured everyone’s imagination! Darth Vader was such a compelling villain, and it was amazing to watch his journey towards redemption. Then, the prequels came along and showed us how he became the villain we first met, detailing his tragic fall. And now, the sequels continue the story, proving that even after everything, the fight against evil never really ends. I’m particularly captivated by Adam Driver’s performance as Kylo Ren; he brings such depth to the role.
