After dominating Apple TV’s global charts for months, the series Pluribus has finally been overtaken. Its premiere on November 7, 2025, with two episodes, made it the most popular series ever on Apple TV, exceeding the viewership of hits like Severance and Ted Lasso.
The spy thriller Tehran is now the most popular show on Apple TV+ worldwide. The third season premiered on January 9th, with new episodes released each week until the finale on February 27th. Before that, all episodes aired on the Israeli channel Kan 11 from December 2024 to January 2025.
Currently, the series Tehran is the most-watched show on Apple TV+ in 68 countries worldwide, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and India. In the U.S. and Israel, it’s the second most popular show, trailing only Pluribus. The high viewership in Israel is likely due to the fact that episodes were released there a year earlier.
The Israeli thriller series follows Tamar Rabinyan (Niv Sultan), a Mossad agent sent on a dangerous mission to Tehran. What makes her mission unique is that she was born in Tehran to both Jewish and Iranian parents. The show’s cast includes Glenn Close, who joined in season two as fellow Mossad agent Marjan Montazami, and Hugh Laurie, appearing in season three as Eric Peterson, a nuclear inspector from South Africa.

Critics and audiences both generally like Tehran, giving it scores of 88% and 87% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes. Apple TV has already renewed the show for a fourth season, announcing it in December before season 3 even launched. The new season is arriving after a four-year break, following the release of season 2 in 2022.
Though it’s no longer at the top of streaming charts, the reviews for Pluribus are actually stronger than those for Tehran. Critics are loving the Vince Gilligan sci-fi series, giving it a remarkable 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, viewers have a more mixed reaction, with a Popcorn Score of 66%.
A second season of Pluribus was approved at the same time as the first, but creator Vince Gilligan has said fans will have to wait a while for its return. The show centers on Carol Sturka (played by Rhea Seehorn), a cynical romance writer and one of just thirteen people worldwide immune to an alien virus. She often works with Zosia (Karolina Wydra), who is connected to the alien hive mind.
With a thrilling season finale and strong reviews, Pluribus is expected to remain popular on Apple TV+. However, Tehran is currently attracting a larger global audience than any other show in the platform’s history.
