Avatar: Fire and Ash is still performing very well in theaters across the United States. This 2025 film is the third movie in James Cameron’s hugely successful Avatar series, following the first two films which are among the highest-grossing movies ever made. Avatar: Fire and Ash opened on December 19th and had the second-best opening weekend of any film in the series (when not accounting for changes in ticket prices over time).
As of this morning, the latest projections from Deadline have Avatar: Fire and Ash looking at around $36 million for this weekend. That would bring its total domestic earnings to $302 million, which is pretty huge – it’ll be only the seventh movie this year to break $300 million domestically! It’s amazing to see it doing so well.
The film has now earned more in North America than Ryan Coogler’s horror film, Sinners, which made $279.6 million domestically and $367.9 million globally on a budget of about $100 million.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to remain the top movie in the US for a third consecutive weekend.
More to come…
