Andrew Garfield is famous for playing Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man films, but he says there’s another movie he’s particularly proud of – one that many haven’t had a chance to see.
During a recent interview with GQ, Andrew Garfield discussed what he considered his most underrated film. He shared that Boy A was a project he was particularly proud of, but one that many of his fans may not be familiar with. He explained it was one of his earliest roles, stating, “Boy A is a film I really like that not many people have seen, and it was like my second film. I think it’s really great.”
The 2007 film Boy A tells the story of Jack Burridge (played by Garfield), who is released from a juvenile detention center after being convicted of killing a child. He tries to start over, taking a job as a delivery driver in hopes of building a new life.
Jack’s day took a surprising turn when he found a lost child on his usual route. He became a local hero after reuniting her with her family, but the positive attention didn’t last. A newspaper revealed his past criminal record, and public opinion quickly turned against him. Now, Jack faces anger and distrust from his community, who fear he might be a danger to their children.
Although not widely known, the film Boy A has been highly praised by both audiences and critics. It currently has an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Many viewers particularly enjoyed Andrew Garfield’s acting and appreciated the well-developed, intricate characters created by the writers.
Garfield is working on several new projects, including a movie adaptation of Enid Blyton’s classic children’s book, The Magic Faraway Tree. The film follows the Thompson family, who move to the English countryside hoping for a fresh start. Parents Tim (played by Garfield) and Polly (Claire Foy) want to reconnect with their children, Joe, Beth, and Fran. Their lives change when the kids discover a magical, hidden tree.
The Magic Faraway Tree is scheduled to be released on March 27, 2026.
