Nicholas Hoult Teases “Awesome” ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Script

Nicholas Hoult, known for playing Lex Luthor in the 2025 Superman reboot, has hinted that the script for the sequel, Man of Tomorrow, is fantastic. The movie, scheduled to come out in 2027, will begin filming next April. Director James Gunn says he’s currently busy preparing for the film, working on storyboards, meeting with department heads, scouting locations, and casting actors. Details about the sequel are still scarce, but most of the original cast, including Hoult, are expected to reprise their roles. While he couldn’t reveal much, Hoult has expressed excitement about returning as the Superman villain.

According to Variety, actor Nicholas Hoult, known for his role in Mad Max: Fury Road, recently spoke at the Red Sea Film Festival about his career choices. He noted that his recent roles have been increasingly complex and darker, but also offered him the chance to work with some of his dream directors. “Looking back at the films I made – The Order, Nosferatu, and Juror #2 – I feel really fortunate,” he said. “If I could have told myself 10 to 15 years ago that I’d get to collaborate with Robert Eggers, Clint Eastwood, and Justin Kurzel all in one year, playing those characters in those films, I would have been incredibly happy.”

In 2025, the actor’s biggest project was, unsurprisingly, Superman. He expressed his excitement about playing Lex Luthor, saying he felt honored to join the long line of talented actors who have taken on the role. While he’s read the script for the upcoming sequel, Man of Tomorrow, he remained tight-lipped about the plot, simply calling it “awesome.”

Hoult remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the project, but hinted at exciting changes when asked about Lex’s portrayal, simply saying, “There’s some really fun stuff.” He previously shared his admiration for writer and director James Gunn, praising Gunn’s impact on the new Superman film. Hoult emphasized that Gunn successfully balanced appealing to contemporary audiences while honoring the established characters, stating, “I just love what James Gunn writes, how he wants to portray that character, and evolve it for the future. I feel safe working with him, and I genuinely enjoy playing this character.”

Nicholas Hoult’s portrayal of Lex Luthor is a highlight of the film Superman. He plays the villain as cold and calculating, with his intense hatred for Superman bringing him to explosive outbursts.
