The Predator series is making a strong comeback, earning positive reviews and performing well in theaters. The latest film, Predator: Badlands, premiered on November 7th and has quickly become a box office success. The story follows Dek, a young Predator played by Dimitrius Schuster-Kaloamatangi, who is exiled from his tribe and must prove his worth by taking on a challenging hunt. The film also features Elle Fanning in a dual role as Thia and Tessa, two advanced synthetic beings created by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. With its current success, Badlands is exceeding expectations and even surpassing the box office numbers of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s biggest competition.
As of today, Predator: Badlands has earned $174.4 million around the world. This success has brought the long-standing competition between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone back into the spotlight. Stallone successfully revived his Rocky series with Creed in 2015, which also performed very well in theaters. However, Predator: Badlands has now surpassed Creed’s earnings, having made $174.1 million during its time in cinemas. Both films significantly outperformed the original Predator, which earned $98 million worldwide in 1987 (not adjusted for inflation).
As a huge fan of the Predator movies, I have to say Predator: Badlands is a fantastic return to what made the original so great. After the first film, things really went downhill with each sequel and crossover. That is, until Dan Trachtenberg directed Prey in 2022 – it breathed new life into the whole concept. And now, with Badlands, he’s done it again! The movie’s getting amazing reviews – 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, but even better, audiences are loving it with a 95% rating. Here’s what it’s all about…
The latest Predator movie takes place in the future on a distant planet. It follows a young Predator, rejected by his people, who teams up with a woman named Thia. Together, they face a dangerous quest to find a powerful enemy.
‘Predator: Badlands’ Is the Second ‘Predator’ Movie of 2025

20th Century Studios
Dan Trachtenberg had an impressive year, directing not one, but two well-received Predator movies. Before Predator: Badlands, he collaborated with Joshua Wassung on Predator: Killer of Killers, a film that many feel deserves more recognition.
The animated film Killer of Killers premiered directly on Hulu for Disney+ subscribers and has been very well-received. Critics loved it, giving it a 95% rating, and audiences also enjoyed it, scoring it at 88% – significantly higher than films like Alien vs. Predator. In fact, Killer of Killers currently holds the highest rating of any movie in the series on Rotten Tomatoes. Here’s what the movie is about:
This story brings together three legendary warriors: a Viking woman seeking revenge with her son, a ninja facing off against his brother in feudal Japan, and a WWII pilot battling a strange threat in the skies. However, despite their skills, they soon discover they are the hunted, not the hunters, facing an enemy who surpasses them all.
