Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of the show, recently told The Hollywood Reporter which episodes viewers should rewatch before the final season premieres on November 26th. Knowing the show takes a significant time commitment, they’ve specifically picked four episodes as essential background – ones they highly recommend revisiting to understand everything that’s coming up.

Matt explained that the show’s mythology and overall story really began to develop in season two, establishing it as an ongoing series. He also emphasized the importance of season four.

Ross explained that the episode “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab” begins to reveal the history and secrets of the Upside Down, offering some explanations to long-standing questions. He also noted that the storyline involving Henry and Eleven remains important and continues to influence the events of season five, making it a good episode to rewatch.

The show follows a group of kids – played by Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and Sadie Sink – in the town of Hawkins, Indiana, as they investigate strange events and confront a powerful, dangerous threat.

The episode focusing on “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab” is a key turning point in the series, revealing the origins of Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower). It’s a crucial part of the story because it shows Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, unintentionally creating the Upside Down while trying to stop Henry/001, which ultimately leads to the creation of Vecna.

As a huge fan, I’m so excited for Season 5! From what I’ve heard, it’s finally going to explain the mystery of the Upside Down and really delve into Will Byers’ story – why Vecna targeted him way back in season one, and what his significance is. Apparently, it’s going to be the most intense season yet, with the most shocking death the show has ever done, and they’re promising to tie up all the loose ends by the finale. I can’t wait!

The final season of Stranger Things will premiere on November 26th with the first part, followed by the second part on December 25th. The very last episode will be available on Netflix and in some cinemas on December 31st.
