A popular actor from the Marvel universe is now part of the cast for Gerard Butler’s new thriller, Empire City. Butler is famous for his roles in movies such as 300, Olympus Has Fallen, The Phantom of the Opera, Den of Thieves, and How to Train Your Dragon.
His upcoming film, Empire City, features him as Rhett, a firefighter trying to rescue people during a hostage situation at the Clybourn Building in New York City.
I’m so excited to hear that Hayley Atwell is joining the cast of Empire City! Apparently, she’ll be playing Dani, who’s married to Rhett and is a police officer in New York City. It sounds like she and her husband will be working together to save the hostages – what a dynamic duo! I can’t wait to see her in action.
Michael Matthews, who directed Love & Monsters, is directing the film. Brian Tucker and S. Craig Zahler wrote the screenplay. Alan Siegel, Marc Butan, Paul Currie, Quirin Berg, and Alexander Janssen are producing.
Filming for Empire City is starting this month. While a distributor hasn’t been confirmed yet, Deadline reports a deal might be finalized at the American Film Market soon.
Hayley Atwell is well-known for her role as Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She appeared in films like Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Avengers: Endgame, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Hayley Atwell first gained prominence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with roles in the TV shows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and her own spinoff series, Agent Carter. She later brought the character back to life in the animated Disney+ series, What If…?
Beyond her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hayley Atwell appeared alongside Tom Cruise in both Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.
Both Butler and Atwell have been recognized with numerous award nominations throughout their careers. Butler received a Satellite Award nomination for his performance in The Phantom of the Opera, and his film 300 brought him an MTV Movie + TV Award, an Empire Award, and a Saturn Award.
Hayley Atwell received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film for her work in The Pillars of the Earth. She also garnered two Scream Award nominations for Captain America: The First Avenger and a Saturn Award nomination for Agent Carter due to her roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The two actors will star as a married couple in the upcoming film, Empire City. Although the release date is still unknown, it’s expected to be announced soon, along with details about the rest of the cast. The movie promises to be a thrilling and suspenseful experience.
