The series is called His Dark Materials. While it didn’t become a massive pop culture phenomenon like HBO’s Game of Thrones, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t excellent. In fact, while other big shows faltered, His Dark Materials told a complete and compelling story, making it HBO’s most consistently strong and emotionally impactful fantasy series.
The initial trailer impressed many viewers with a striking look at the villain, easing concerns some fans had about Jared Leto’s casting. Those still hesitant can rest assured, according to director Travis Knight, who shared that Leto is a big fan of Skeletor and was eager to deliver a powerful performance. Knight explained this in a recent interview with Empire magazine, stating:

The movie Remain is now scheduled to be released on February 5, 2027. Warner Bros., the film’s distributor, chose this date because early ticket sales have been very promising. The release was initially planned for October 2026.
Let me tell you, it’s fantastic to see Gore Verbinski back in the director’s chair! It’s been too long since ‘A Cure for Wellness,’ and he clearly has a lot of pent-up creative energy. ‘Good Luck…’ is wonderfully weird – almost to the point of being chaotic, with ideas flying at you from every direction. But honestly, that’s part of the fun. What really holds it all together is Sam Rockwell. He’s brilliant as this mysterious guy from the future, tasked with preventing an AI takeover, and he commits to the role with such manic energy and charm. You genuinely believe he could convince a bunch of strangers to help him save the world! This film is a return to form for a truly gifted blockbuster director, and while it’s a wild ride, it’s a warning we should all pay attention to. If you’re looking for something different and delightfully offbeat, this is it.
