Mortal Kombat III Announced with Jeremy Slater Returning

The movie isn’t coming to theaters until May 15, 2026, but there’s exciting news for fans: a third film in the series has been officially announced!

According to sources, New Line Cinema is moving forward with *Mortal Kombat III*, bringing back Jeremy Slater to write the screenplay. The announcement was made at New York Comic Con, and Warner Bros. is optimistic about the next installment in the series. The delay of *Mortal Kombat II* – pushed from October 2025 to May 2026 – allowed the studio time for evaluation, and the film’s teaser trailer was a huge success, garnering over 107 million views worldwide in just one day.

Details about the plot and when the movie will come out are still secret, but Todd Garner is back as producer. *Mortal Kombat II* will continue the story from the 2021 film, and will feature Earthrealm’s heroes teaming up to stop the evil Shao Kahn (played by Martyn Ford).

Currently, details about a third movie haven’t been announced. The second film features returning cast members Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han/Noob Saibot, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion. Damon Herriman is also back, this time playing Quan Chi after previously providing the voice for Kabal.

I’m so hyped for *Mortal Kombat II*! They’ve added Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, which is amazing – he’s a perfect fit! Plus, Tati Gabrielle is joining as Jade, and I’m really excited to see her take on that role. The cast is getting seriously stacked!

As a huge film fan, I’ve been following the buzz around *Mortal Kombat II*, and it’s been incredible! The first red-band trailer broke all sorts of records in its first day, and honestly, the early reactions to the movie are giving me *Avengers: Endgame* vibes – people are seriously excited about it.

The new movie, *Mortal Kombat II*, will be in theaters on May 15, 2026. Currently, there’s no scheduled release date for *Mortal Kombat III*.
