Lanterns dropped a brand-new preview just in time for San Diego Comic-Con.
Lanterns is a new HBO series created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. It centers around two Green Lanterns: Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, and John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre. The show is a DC Studios production in partnership with Warner Bros. Television.
Fans are getting a sneak peek at characters from the upcoming DC series Lanterns! Ahead of the trailer’s release at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Entertainment Earth revealed new Funko POP! figures featuring John Stewart, Sinestro, and Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. The Hal Jordan figure sports his classic mask and a dark green costume similar to what’s been shown in other previews.
New Funko figures give us a first look at Sinestro, a major villain from the upcoming Lanterns series. He’ll have his signature purple skin, just like in the comics, which has excited DC fans and suggests the show will stay true to the original stories. His white uniform also seems to confirm popular fan theories that this version of Sinestro will be imprisoned by the Green Lantern Corps.
In the comic books, Sinestro is depicted wearing a white prison uniform during a couple of significant Green Lantern story arcs. A well-known portrayal of the character appears in Green Lantern issues #26-28 (2008), by writer Geoff Johns and artist Mike McKone (with inks by Andy Lannin). This story takes place after the Sinestro Corps War, showing Sinestro stripped of his yellow power ring and imprisoned, consistently dressed in a simple white uniform.
This outfit reappears in issues #1-2 of War of the Green Lanterns: Aftermath (2011), which were written by Tony Bedard and illustrated by Miguel Sepulveda and Tyler Kirkham. He’s imprisoned again in Sciencells as the Guardians of the Universe debate his fate. These comic book events ultimately led into DC’s New 52 relaunch.
